time to bring on the potty?? _
PostSubject: time to bring on the potty??   time to bring on the potty?? EmptyWed Jun 08, 2011 7:53 am

in the last few days lewis has been getting up in the mornings and taking his nappy off when he's done a poo....not much fun but doesn't seem like there is much we can do!LOL...any ideas how to stop that are welcome!

also he's started recognising when he's done a poo, he'll either go to the corner, say 'poo' and pull his trousers off, or will come to me and do the same...

so maybe time to introduce the potty properly, or is he not quite ready yet?

i have no idea on this stuff Neutral

O went through a phase of taking his nappy off too but he wasn't quite ready for potty training at the time..I think he just found out he could so did lol
He too used to go stand in the corner and do a poo.

But if Lewis is actually telling you when or after he's done it, it might be an idea to introduce a potty in the room. We had one laying around from when O was about 1yr old, but he hated sitting on it.

I would get one and pop it in the corner where he tends to go when he poops. Ask him if he'd like to sit on it, try with clothes on first and over time try when he's naky. I wouldn't go all panicy when he is doing a poo and rushing him on to the potty as that can cause anxiety when they want to poo to the point they end up holding it in for days lol Puke
Let him have lots of naky time with his potty around. You might find that you and Sam have to sit on the potty so he gets the general idea lol (obviously not doing pee pees on it haha)
Just go with the flow and good luck

knowing they've done one is the first step to recognising that there's something going on down there and what it is, I would say it's probably a little early, when he knows before he wants to go that's the time to start, there's no harm in getting him used to the potty, Chloe sat on hers for months before we started just to get used to it, we just left it in the corner and let her sit on it during nappy free time, and sometimes she would wee (more luck than anything) but mostly she'd either sit on it or wear it as a hat Very Happy but it got her used to it so she wasn't scared when the time came
