so latest news is that sunday will be the final issue of the papaer after 168 years !
to be honest all i know is they hacked phones , no details ! , we stopped buying papers a long time ago but i will miss getting my read when down at OH parents house ( only as they watch D so i get peace to do it lol ) i know it was full of crap but i still enjoyed reading it !

i can only assume that news of the world stopping will not be the end ! , they will just produce another paper on a sunday with a lovely new name !

OH close family members work for its sister paper the sun , i imagine conversations over the table tonight will be hot !

The words 'good riddance' spring to mind!

They have been accused of hacking up to 4000 different peoples phone lines including those of the parents of the murdered school girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman (Soham murders) and that of murdered teenager Milly Dowler. Imagine your baby being murdered and then finding out your phone lines were hacked and personal details published in the papers It is the most disgusting invasion of privacy and they are all scum for letting it happen for so long. Those involved deserve prison sentences (I think two of them are serving but I'm sure more people knew about it and kept it all quiet).

There will always be scummy tabloids around so one less wont hurt anybody.

Goodbye and good riddance as far as I'm concerned! I'm sure it will be replaced shortly by some other rubbish but what they've done is absolutely disgusting! The worst bit is knowing that they hacked in to Milly Dowlers phone and deleted messages, potentially destroying evidence and giving her poor parents false hope that she was still alive Just hope the Sun follows suit! xxx

Good riddance! To hack into anyone's phone is disgraceful but to hack into a murdered girls phone, delete messages and give a family false hope as well as possibly delaying police from finding body/murderer (as they thought she was still alive) is just disgusting.

I've also read Sun on Sunday will be out soon. It's just rebranding the same crap.

And they will make loads of money this sunday alone by more people buying NOTW just because its the last issue....disgraceful what they have done and agree anyone involved should be given a hefty sentence, they wont ofcourse and will all probably be working for the new publication come monday morning x

about time, there needs to be a full enquiry into this, those poor parents of those girls and the soilders families is disgusting, heared today sarah paynes mom was also targeted

i just dont see what they had to achieve by doing it, really dont, i can see with celebritites and politicians, with affairs and stuff, they think thats a story !!!! but why of a family in distress, or that man who saved lives in the 7/7 attack..

I do think its terrible that they are hacking into phones, and the paper should be punished for this.

On the other hand though, would there be this public outcry, if they had hacked into a terrorist phone and managed to stop a terrorist bomb?

that is a good point Jessica no one was outraged when they were hacking into celebrities phones which is still an invasion of privacy (I don't want to start a debate about whether celebrities should be allowed to ahve private lives because of their career choice btw)
but now that this has happened people think it's bad...

It would be a different story if they had hacked into a missing girls phone and found her before it was too late or like Jessica says stopping a terrorist bomb... unfortunately they can't pick and choose who gets hacked!

Don't the police hack into people phones in these situations anyway (if not I think they should be able to!)
