Joshua seems to be a really windy baby. He burps fine after feed but seems to be having problems the other end. He farts and farts but it doesn't seem to be helping him much as he still looks uncomfortable and trying to get more farts out. He poo'd when he popped out, but hasn't done one since, not sure if he should have done another by now, maybe this isn't helping. Anyone know anything I can do to help relieve his trapped wind? I do the normal pat his back with him on my shoulder, sit him up on my knee and rub/pat his back.

heya, i would have thought he could probably do with doing a poo, maybe mention that to your midwife/health visitor when they visit next? as for bum wind, lying him on his back and cycling his legs used to help elijah quite a bit, also baby massage on his abdomen/buttocks/tummy but i think joshua is too little to try that just yet Smile

Like Mari said the bike thing helps. I think we massaged Jamie's tummy from quite early on. I would speak to your hv though because I'm sure they should be pooing lots early on so he might need something to help him. Mind you they do say bf babies can't get constipated. Then again they also say they can't get wind and Jamie had real trouble with it. I think you can use infacol from quite early on. Didn't work for us but does for some. Gripe water was the only thing that helped Jamie at all but I think you might have to be a month for that

Thanks for replies

Saw mw today and they're not too concerned he hasn't done a poo since birth, although they did say they were going to talk to the hospital to see if they thought it was a problem.

I tried massage and cycling his legs as well as some other things i read on the net, but didnt seem to work. i'm hoping once he gets a poo out he'll feel better
