Hi Ladies hope all is well,

Well recently i have been looking at schools around my area in quite good detail for Noah. Noah is a catholic so realistically we want him to go to a catholic school. The only good catholic school by me is St Anne's now this school is like best school in the area as well as state schools.
We are not in the catchment area only about 400metres off it lol though. They have a nursery there for 3 year olds so my plan is to put NOAHs name into that. This school like many good schools are really hard to get your child in.

So my question is when should I start putting his name down for the nursery he will be starting in the September of 2013?

Probably best to ring them ... they are all different

I was waiting ages for a space at one nursery ... then managed to get a space straight away at another

If it's a really good/popular school then you need to get his name down sooner rather than later. I know people that have put their children's names down as soon as they were born.

For the nursery ring them, all different ones take in at different times. A lot take from 2 years 9 months. But also depends on their numbers already waiting.

There is also a rule now that says no matter what Nursery (pre-school) your child goes to does not automatically give them first right to go to the adjoining school.

Rowan starts actual school in Sept 2013 when he will be 4 years 9 months and we have to apply online to the council up until February 2013. Then we are notified on which school(s) he has been accepted into.

We put Rowan in this pre-school because of it's very good school only to find out just because he goes there does not mean he'll be accepted into the school

Kell I know some of the children that went to the nursery last year didnt get a place, but I do think it will all help. OH nephew goes to the school Joseph and his bro charlie will be starting this september. I would really like them all to be in the same school as well their all Hurds and are close lol. I am going to ring them tomaz and try and get his name down.

Thanks ladies

Another question ladies, I am aware everyone is entitled to 15 hours free nursery can you pay extra to make up a whole day. Say they give you a morning can you pay for the afternoon too?

Usually yes.... mine offer 2 full days or 3 x 5 hour sessions and I can put her in however many hours and just the price is reduced by the 15 hours (although those 15 hours have to be at the set time that they normally do free sessions, which I think are mornings)

Its odd with schools, there are 2 in town that are equally the best..the one I want Izzy to go to had 38 places last September...they received 38 applications with that school as their first choice, they all got their 1st choice, and they had 2 applications who put it as their 2nd choice, they didnt get a space

So if it goes same as last year everyone who wants a space got one!

Saying that though, my town is small with only 190 pupils in a year for the whole town!

Its such a minefield out there isnt it.

Yeah, most nurseries will let you add on extra hours as long as they are open. The one that Aimee goes to is only open 3 hours a day, so that takes up all of her hours by going daily.

We were going to move her to another nursery which is attached to the primary school (which she has been booked into since 18 months old), but we are all really happy with where she is now, so we are not going to bother.
