First stages of potty training _
PostSubject: First stages of potty training   First stages of potty training EmptyWed Feb 01, 2012 9:33 pm

OK so i am in the very first stages of potty training with noah.

If he has his nappy off for a bit during the day and i say go an have a wee wee on potty he will go and have one. He always comes to me and grabs his nappy when his done a poo and now when he has his nappy off he grabs his winky to tell me he needs a wee.

So were do i go from here, shall i prolong the nappy free time for an hour, but i dont want him to have no bottoms on coz he might get cold. With regards to the pull ups i feel noah will just think its a nappy and wee and poo in it.

Any ideas?

It is a tricky time to do it with them getting cold - but you can get leg warmers and put long tops/vests on so he can go a little longer with his bum still bare - I always found Izzy found it easier when she had a bare bum

If you think he will poo and wee in pulls ups then maybe its not the right time for them, I put Izzy in them for a while before we started training but she was totally able to understand that the ones we got when she started were different (just like a padded pant really) - so I explained to her and she knew they were pants not a nappy - and then eventually she just had that for bed in case of an accident

I'm at the same stage with Ellie, at the moment we just have bare bum time after bed and before bed. I leave the potty out and she uses it. I'm just going to increase the bare bum time before I start trying knickers in the day. I'm going to give pull ups a miss.

Keep us updated how you're getting on.

pull ups to us were a waste of time they both just treat them as nappies...
i have just started with dita and she wears long t-shirts/dresses and legs warmers and pants and goes all day in the house with pants on.
Havent tried leaving the house yet!
