PostSubject: Driving lessons    Driving lessons EmptyTue Oct 05, 2010 1:02 am

Ive just sent off for my provisional licence (about time as im 30) and as soon as I get it my o/h is going to be giving me lessons, just wondering how long it took you all to pass and how many lessons. I really want to be able to drive come next september when my son starts secondary school as its not in walking distance (if he gets in) do you think its do-able in 10 or so months??

I would say so, i was rubbish at my lessons. I started them in the January and passed my test ( third time ) at the start of december so it took me a full year.

Good luck

Yes if you work at it.

I took over a year of having one lesson a week on ave. Id say I had 60+ lessons, passed my theory 1st go and did my test 3 times Embarassed Think I did my 1st test after about 11/12 mths and then just resat every 2-3 wks til I passed.

Good luck xxx

I've had 20 lessons and my instructor says i could book my test now. it's currently about a month and half waiting list for test so probs another 6 lessons. So into months i'd say 6months. Im sure you'll be able to pass in a month.

I think if you can practice as much as you can then you'll be able to pass in 10 months no problem. I struggled at first because I was only driving once a week with the instructor but once my mum insured me on her car and we were able to practice in the week a few times I improved loads. If oh is teaching you then you should be able to practice loads and I'm sure you'll do it. xx

Thanks ladies, Ive just starting realising how much i have to rely on my o/h to take me every where , and I want to have some independence and do things myself. We will probably be able to get out and about a few times a week then i will go to an instructor who can tell me how many more lessons i need.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11462155

they are changing the test - I think thats easier actually, you can make your own mind up instead!

''

Changes to the driving test coming into effect in the UK later will see people following a route "independently". Candidates will not receive step-by-step directions from their examiner during the 10-minute section, which will test how they drive unsupervised. Test route maps will no longer appear online but the Driving Standards Agency says learners can ask for reminders and will not be failed for getting lost. The number of driving manoeuvres tested is to fall from two to one. The DSA says the introduction of an independent driving part of the test will allow examiners to better assess whether drivers are ready to drive unsupervised.''
