OH has just called to say that there is an away day and overnight stay with work being planned, and he has to reply by monday about whether he wants to go or not.
Its all fine obviously i'd rather he didn't go, it makes me a little uneasy tbh.

But its on his actual birthday

I asked whats stopping him from going and his reply was 'you wouldn't want me to'
Its true but i cant let him not do things because i dont want him to.

obviously i want to see him on his birthday it goes without saying, but its a wednesday night and lets be honest all we would do would be to have a meal together, nothing overly special because its mid week.
So i've said he should go and we celebrate at the weekend.

what would you do? I am actually upset about it but i know i'll get over it and i know he will enjoy himself, its kinda a team building thing so will be a laugh.

I'm the same but you cant keep or stop your OH from things. i'm not saying you are but look it how i reason with myself when my OH wants to do something.

I say to myself, its in no way fair that i stop him from going as we'd be doing bugger all anyway. and he's not a child and when is he likely going to be able to stay out and go away again.

My OH goes sailing about twice a year with the guys from work and its over night and i just grin and bear it

I'd tell him to go! If you haven't got anything special planned then you can celebrate on the weekend x
