learn to sit up? i know its a bit of a stupid question, but eli is sitting really well for a long time (unless he sneezes) but only if we help him to sit up initially - he strains and tries to do a sort of sit-up so will that just continue or will he try to grab stuff to pull himself up?

just wondering if its time to move his cotbed down a level or if we still have a while???

Each baby's different, suppose its just a case of them strengthening their centre of gravity. We would always sit Oliver up initially, he didn't crawl till 12mth and didn't roll at all until he was crawling, thinking back he was a lazy bum
I would have thought when he figures the rolling onto front, and crawling it all seems to happen at the same time thats when he'll start to sit up himself.

Saying that Oliver sat up on his own in his cot at 7mth (started sitting unaided at 6mth) but he didn't learn to pull himself up to standing until 10mth.
We'd always had the cot on the 2nd (middle setting) it was when he was pulling himself up to standing we moved it to the bottom.

Thomas learned to sit himself up at 7 months (same as crawling but dont know if that has anything to do with it ). He basically would roll over to his side, pull his legs forward (right angle to body), then kind of rolling and pushing up with his arm. I think you will be ok with his cot the way it is until he starts to either crawl or pull himself to stand however there is no harm in changing it now just in case (better do it too early than too late).

hmmmmm he can get onto his tummy on his own now, but only usually goes onto his side - maybe we should think about moving it before he figures out he can pull himself up on the side......
