Housing advice? _
PostSubject: Housing advice?   Housing advice? EmptyWed Aug 18, 2010 2:26 am

i put this on ab but just incase someone here can help that doesn't check ab.

I just need some advice about my housing situation. Hubby and I have been having a few problems and well i'm starting to think of the practical things if we break up. We currently rent from the local housing association and i was just wondering what would happen if one of us leaves. I've read through the contract and it says nothing about that and i can't get through on the phone. Basically i'm thinking it'll be me that will have to leave cause the flat is down the road from his parents, and his work and tbh i can't imagine him affording anywhere else. But would he be allowed the flat himself, being a 2bedroom and it just being him? Would it just be a case of removing my name from the contract.
Thanks if anyone can helpxx

Sorry you are having to think about this :-(

I am pretty sure if he re-applied as single guy he wouldn't be given a 2 bed, so they may try to downgrade him if they are told you and Immi aren't there any longer? I don't know for sure though

If he found somewhere would you prefer to stay or do you think youd rather go elsewhere ?

I think it depends on if he has joint parental responsibility for Imogen, as if he does then they will normally let him stay in the two bed as he would need a suitable place for her to stay when she is with him. Hope you manage to sort things out though x

If it did come down to it, i think we would do joint custody. He would have Immi friday night to monday morning so he would need the room for her.
Tbh I think i would want to move as i think i need a fresh start and his parents are down the road and so is his sister and family so would just constantly be in my face.

Thanks for the help. guess if it comes to it i'll have to try and get through to the housing people to talk it all through with themx

Hun so sorry you are thinking like this.

Have you thought about getting some help with your relationship? It is worth a shot and if he won't go to somewhere like Relate you can always go on your own
