How long into this breast feeding malarky does it take before baby takes less time to fill up ... Ava is taking between 1 to 2 hours a time and its becoming a strain as i have a very hyper 1 year old to care for aswell and im going out of my mind

do you mean she''s feeding every 1-2 hours ? my ava fed every 1.30 hours for the first three months for about 20-30 mins at a time. it must be really hard with a toddler xx

no she is on the breast for 1 to 2 hours going around 4hours inbetween but sometimes it feels like she doesnt break at all

it definately sounds like she's doing it for comfort, you cant have enough milk to feed for 2 hours straight, what does she do if you de-latch her?

elijah would feed for up to 4 hours at the start....it went down to about 40mints-1hour after about a month and by 4 months he was at around 15-30 mins now he is 10 minutes flat if that.

i think i may go on to bottles its not what i want but im finding i cant keep up and its not good for poor Caleb

my friend had a similar problem with similar aged babies - have you thought about mixed feeding? it can work quite well, maybe give her bottles during the day and then bf after caleb's bedtime so you aren't missing out

I was going to say the same as Mari. Maybe a mix of booby and bottles is the answer. You could also express a bit (although it is knackering) and give her booby food in a bottle that way.

It's all about balance hun so if poor Caleb is missing out and it is making your life difficult make it a bit easier on yourself.

Oh Rach, it is tough breastfeeding with a toddler from my experience. The only thing that worked in my favour was that Isla was a very efficient feeder and took 15 minutes max. I think mixed feeding sounds like a good idea. Personally i wouldn't bother expressing as i think that is incredibly time consuming and never worked for me because i was so tired and didn't ever get much milk.

Awww chick, you have done better than I did.

Lily decided on the first night that she wanted feeding between 11pm and 5.20am. I was absolutely red raw by the end of it and ended up giving her a bottle.

How about expressing and then you could feed her much quicker, or get your OH to feed her x

Ive decided to do one feed a day breast at bed time and the rest bottles thanks for the advice girls i feel such a pain going on about it
