| Good luck! I had 21 day and 28 day bloods done a lot (lucky me!) and my brain has gone to mush since then, but I think they measure the levels of certain hormones to check if you have ovulated and then if you have 28 day bloods, they check you are producing the right hormones to keep the egg in if you have ovulated. I think they also give the doctor an idea of your luteal (sp) phase, they found doing my bloods that mine was too short which is why I had trouble conceiving. Sorry if i've only written what you already know Basically, it's great that your getting them done, and they can really help the doctor to understand what's going on and how to fix it. I'm really excited for you! Kepp us updated, keeping everything crossed for you! |

| Thanks girls for all your comments. Well had my bloods done this morning so now jut have to wait and see. Thanks Natkat for the info I thought they were to check if you were ovulating and you confirmed this. Now just have to wait and see. Also just found out that my psychiatrist wants to cancel my appointment next week and reschedule a major appointment with me and hubby to discuss and hopefully reassure me about my medication after the shocking last appointment I had which scared the life out of me.
Hope everyone is looking forward to their bank holiday weekend xxxx

| Piglet, glad it went well! When do you get the results back? If you like i can dig thorugh my notes and see if i can offer up any more about 21 day bloods and the results?I got a couple of leaflets from the doc that were quite useful.
I hope your new appointment goes well, too and they can reassure you. Sending lots of hugs your way! |

| No problem! Had a dig around in my notes to jog my memory, seems that the 21 day bloods test for progesterone, which should increase after ovuation. So you'd ovulate on day 14 of your cycle, and they'd aim to check your progesterone leves a week after you ovulate. They generally look for a level over 12, mine were 7.5 so not high enough. Progesterone helps thicken the lining of the womb to help the egg bed in, the reason i was having problems conceiving was that the eggs were getting fertilised but couldn't "stick on". Luckily though there are progesterone creams/injections that can help you if thats what is causing the problem. I'm going to give you this link as well, as i translated that from my japanese notes, so not 100% sure of myself. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html#female (Progesterone 7dpo is the one you need to look at ) Do you chart your temps? I know that helped me work out when i was ovulatiing, which helped the doctor do my blood sample on the right day. I hope that helps, let me know if there's anything else in case i've missed something! And best of luck and big hugs to you! |

| Well I got my day 21 blood results today and they came back normal. Am not sure how to feel as I am so happy I am ovulating but concerned that there appears to be no reason why we haven't got pregnant, if that makes sense. Am also starting to doubt if I have what it takes to be a mum and maybe mother nature is trying to tell my something. |

it shows you can have a baby now you need to work on relaxing and enjoying yourself (and lots of practice too!) |
