i had my second cervical sweep on thursday 31st, 3 days overdue. I was 2-3cm and cervix was favourable.
4am on 1st of feb i woke with contractions, they were 4-5mins apart and quite strong from the start, so i called my mum and asked her to come over so she could take the boys to school for me.made my way to her house(as there was roadworks near me with major delays, plus she lives closer to hozzy) to wait out till i was ready to go in. We left for hozzy at about 11am withcontractions really strong and still every 4mins.
I was checked at the hospital, still only 3cm, was gutted and at 2pm was told to go home as my contractions werent progressing so i could be days!!
As soon as i got home i got in the bath, where my contractions doubled in intensity, also heard a pop and noticed my bump was a funny shape after so my waters had gone, by 3pm i knew i needed to get out the bath asmy contractions were coming thick and fast, i took me 15mins to get myself out and dried, spending most of te time leaned over the bath, so decided i needed help getting dressed as my contractions were building one after the other and my legs were shaking so bad, so shouted my mum and andy to come help me, they got me downstairsand rung the hospital to say i was coming back in.
Rushhour traffic, it was the longest car journey iv ever had lol, i couldnt sit so was knelt over the back of the passenger seat, about 5mins from the hozzy i felt really bad pressure and shouted to andy she wasnt gonna wait much longer and to put his foot down.
We got to the hospital at about 4pm, when the woman on reception saw me she ran to get me a wheelchair and called the midwives down to escort me up (all gloved up with a birthing pack, how embarrasing lol) the people in reception wating area soon cleared out lol!!
By the time they got me up to the ward and examined me it was about 4:15, shea said there was a tiny bit of cervix still there, asked me what position id like to push in, so i said kneeling over the back of the bed, got in position, she gave me gas and air...by this time i could feel my body pushing, she said i was fully dilated and i was 'involentry pushing' so asked me to try breathe through it and let my body do the work till i could do nothing else but push with it.it was bloody hard resisting going with my body lol, and every contraction i could feel my muscles pushing her and her head coming right down.
Eventually at 4:55 i said i cant breathe throug it anymore so she took the G +A off me and i pushed with the next contraction, then they were telling me to breath, then push, then breathe, her head was born really slowley (they were saying something about anteriour lip and to pull her head upwards??), so her head was out, they unhooked the cord from her neck...then no more contractions came so they said i need to get me on my back quickley (was really hard work rolling over and laying back with head between my legs, and alli was thinking was the shoulder distocia was happening again so really panicking)...luckily i got on my back and another contraction came and i pushed out the rest of her @4:59. My perfect baby girl was palced on my chest...she was very purple and took a while to cry, but after a little jiggling she started crying and pinked up.
Had 3 stitches and went streight home from delivery suite with baby esme grace :-)
