| today while at the hosptial for scan, we had to take rich (11yrs old) with us as we had no childcare,
well they refused to let him in scan, so i said he could sit outside the door as it was down a corridor, but they refused and said i could choose scan alone without russ or not at all, or leave rich in waiting area.
we decided after talking to rich and me sheding tears ( i swear thats all i've done in the last week) to leave him in waiting room and the scan lady said she be quick.
anyway while waiting to see doc, they called a lady in who had her partner and child with her who was about 12-18months, not walking and they had pushchair.
they refused to let her take the child in, and suggested the dad stay with the child in the waiting area.... lady looked about 12 weeks so an important scan and i would want hubby there. they left the child with a person in the waiting room, which i have issues with but hey thats another topic entirley..
but i kind of agree that children shouldnt go into 12 or 20 week scans, but mine was to see if bubs was breech and was 5 mins. but why not allow a toddler in, i dont see how they can cause an issue.
just wondering what you guys would do, we thinking of ttc for no3 in the summer (yes i know, but cant discuss it till after this one born) and i said to russ that we would have to ask my dad or sil to have bubs while we went if we were lucky enough because i think thats a terrible thing to make a nervous pg woman to, scan with hubby, leave child with stranger, scan with no hubby, no scan
so what would you do?? |

| I don't understand they dont allow kids in?! What harm could they cause?
I agree though I wouldn't want to go in on my own, so yeh I'd arrange for LO to go to your dads

| its new policy, only 1 person allowed in and no children whatsoever, we saw a few moms had brought partners and their moms and they had to choose which one could go in... |

| Sean went in with both my scans when I was preg with Kara. There was no question of him being allowed. I think it's a bit disgusting that they don't let them in, to us it was important that Sean was involved in every aspect of the pregnancy so that he would be okay when she was born. I mean it's not like your son at 11yo would have caused even the slightest disturbance really is it?! Sean at 2, just sat and watched at both scans and once the sonographer had done the checks they needed they talked him through it as well as us. I would be complaining tbh.
I would leave LO with your dad or SIL next time unless they change their policies xxx |

| i had this problem when i was pg with lewis...the scan letter said that siblings could go in as long as someone was there to supervise/keep hold of them, but when we got there, they refused to let lily-ann in, so poor sam had to sit outside and miss the scan now, if we turned up and she was screaming her head off and throwing a paddy, i could understand them not really wanting her in there, but she was sat quietly in her pram not bothering anyone...it's just unfair if i were you i would leave the LO's with your dad or someone you trust, it's such a wonderful thing for the dad to experience, and i'd not want to go in by myself! |

| Hmm I understand about 12/20 week scans as I wouldnt want A child in a situation if there were to be bad news delivered. I can't understand why a toddler can't go in. I would be very upset if that happened to me, they should notify people before the get there of the new policy! It's bad management! |

| hmmmm thats a tricky one - i can see that maybe a toddler would be disruptive, but a baby in a pushchair isn't going to get up to much mischief/be aware of what was going on surely??? |

| I understand that toddlers could put them off whist scanning but what are you meant to do with them? As for your son surly they could tell that he wouldn't distract them?

| I had my scan yesterday and we took Stephen and he was being a right tinker while we were in there but we had no choice, we had no one to watch him for us. I couldn't of done it without hubby either, they couldn't find baby for ages and i would have been hysterical if it wasn't for hubby holding my hand! There was a lady that went in before us who had brought her husband, mum and three other children in and they asked that just hubby went in for the checks and then they let everyone else in to see baby on the screen which is fair enough. I think it's really mean that they won't let children in at all, obviously if they are being disruptive to the scan then that's different but mostly they are just fascinated with what is on the screen xx |
