why are desk's so expensive!!!!!

We have a huge one at the moment and it's just too big. we don't use all the desk top anyway all it hold is the screen, keyboard and mouse.

I want to hide the desk behind the door in the living room so either a small desk to the wall or a small corner one but they are so expensive it's unreal.
