finlay fell down the stairs, he was so quick like lightning he charged and a chased him but it was too late he fell right down he is ok now a small bump on his head but otherwise he is just his self, i phoned nhs 24 she didnt seem to concerned just got to monitor him every 2 hours, i feels so bad i keep crying cannot believe i let it happen, i am so bloody stupid x

aw please don't be upset! it's so awful when things like this happen, but i am assured that they happen lots and you can't be everywhere all the time keeping an eye on him x

Dont blame yourself as it happens to most children. Ellie can get up and down on her own and one of us is usually with her but a few times she's gone up or come down alone!!! And although we have a stair gate we're all guilty in our house of wedging it open for convenience!
Anyway the good news is that he's ok

go and have a glass of wine and stop beating yourself up!!!

Arhh hun, these things happen i will be the same when LO starts getting bumps etc. Your only human to feel like that, it was an accident hun.

i'm sure it's a matter of time before ava does something like that, she's just started climbing on the sofa and hurled herself over the back today, caught her just in time.

Aw hon I bet you're more shaken up than he was!

Imogen fell down the bottom few steps at my sister's last week - I saw her heading for them (they open on the living room) but I was too slow getting there. It's awful cos their head seems to bump so hard on the floor! Bit of a cuddle and everything was fine though.

I think a couple of tumbles are bound to happen in a kid's lifetime. Short of moving into a bungalow I don't think you can ever be 100% sure it won't happen.

thanks ladies only slept about 3 hours at the most just kept pokeing him to make sure he was ok he is still sleeping but seems ok x

aww hun, you not a bad mom, just think he was going to do it sooner than later, like most kids do and now he done it, he might be a bit more careful next time.

Wil has fallen down part of our stairs, fallen off the bed, fallen off the sofa, went a right cropper on the slide at the Northampton meet, has grazed knees from skidding down our drive and a tidy little graze on his forehead from going head first in Sports Direct.

I am sure Finlay is none the worse for it.

You'll be amazed how many kids we see in a&e that have fallen of sofas/beds or down stairs. It's a lot more common than we realise!
We never think anything bad of the mums because usually we've got a similar story to tell

Lottie fell down an entire flight of stairs aged 7 months!! (god she was quick then...and still is!!), Abbie was scolded with coffee last year and ended up being taken by ambulance to hospital, and I have lost count of the banged heads, trapped fingers, grazed knees etc we have had!!!

Mara's son Sam has a lovely scar on his head from Abbie pushing him off the top of the slide in my garden
