| Hey All Well i had my lil man Connor 13.4.2011, he came a lil early and had a bit of a rough start, but he is now home (2nd day) and im having a few issues... i just wondering how i would know if Connor is takin enough milk? he is bein breastfed, but he doesnt seem to take much and he sleeping ALOT! lol i know i probably shouldnt be complainin, but last night/today for instance, i fed him 11pm he was on the breast for 8 minutes, fell asleep, so i put him in his crib and there he stayed til 7.15am! so i woke him and tried feedin him but he still only latched on for about 5 mins and he been slept until 11.45, i tried wakin him to feed him, (got him dressed, changed him etc) and he is just not interested, he stayed on the breast for literally about 5 mins again, i tried givin him EBM in a bottle, but he didnt seem to know wot to do with it is it just because he is growin (adjusted age 37 weeks today) so needs to sleep lots? or should i seek help from HV next week after bank holiday? (havent seen a MW or HV since he been born as he was in hospital) xxx |

| i would give your mw/hv a ring - just because elijah was 37 weeks and really really sleepy - he was very jaundiced too and i was told not to let him go more than 2 hours without feeding for the first couple of week - mainly because he was getting dehydrated and not getting enough energy (by falling asleep rather than feeding). it may be a bit different as connor is 2 weeks old but it does seem like quite a long sleep for such a little baby so maybe try waking him once or twice in the night and offer him a feed (god i bet i will get shouted at for that one ) |

| Hey loola! and congratulations!! He is such a cutie! If it was me, I'd give NICU a ring, because I'm worrier, and at least someone will pick up.. and they might let you know who to call to get an answer today. Good luck, i hope it all goes well and he starts drinking lots for you! xx |

| I would ring the nicu too just for a bit of advice and they can always refer you to someone else if they know who to speak to. Stephen was like that when he was first born and I was told to feed him at least every 3 hours as his blood sugar was low. If he is refusing to feed they should be able to offer you some support to encourage him to feed more often xxx |

| Loola when I had Kara and first started to bf at 34 weeks (i think) she'd wake up, feed for about 10 minutes and then go back, it was a good feed if she went for 15 minutes. Its a combination of needing to sleep because they're catching up a bit more, they're tired out cos of the effort to feed and they're full up. I was told to ring the maternity hospital if i had any probs hope you're both ok xxx |

| Hiya, congratulations honey.
When I took Imogen home I was told every 3hrs but she had only managed a few little sucks at once and I was sure she couldn't have got any milk at all in those first 2 days before coming home. She lost a lot of weight in the first few days until my milk came in and there was like this eureeka moment when the mw was here and Imogen finally figured out how to latch properly.
Anyway on departure the hospital had said any probs in the first week we could phone them or go back with her. So I would deffo phone the baby unit if you're worried, at the very least they can reassure you xx |
