| help come home now this afternoon to find a speeding ticket on my door step could cry really really really could do without it right now. but hey ho. naughty naughty, shouldnt speed! as its turned out its not me it OH. (cant shout at me hehe) but whos best to take the points?!? insurance is in my name, and hes a named driver. iv been driving for 7+ years where hes only just 2 years now next month but he can have 6 points cant he in 1st 2 years? so he can take them. or thinking about it how many points will it be for doing 39mph in a 30mph? is it a set 3 points? but trying to work out which way will it be better, me being the main person or him being a named driver?! or does it not make a difference?!? anyone know?? thanks x x |

| I think most insurance companies expect you to get 3/6 points tbh. It will be a set fine (prob £60) and also 3 points x |

| I think it does make a difference just not a massive one,
why not go on money supermarket etc get a new quote (pretend one) and put them on both of your names, see which one comes back better.
does the letter say fixed penalty notice?? if so its 3 points |

| Have they not offered the driving course instead of the points? if they do i'd take that as you don't have to declare it to your insurance!! I would warn you that they check the picture to see if the person is who they say it is - for example picture is obviously a woman but her fella claims it is him. they then can do you for that too so be careful if your not gonna be truthfull. In answer to your question don't think 3 points makes that much difference to your insurance, maybe £30 a year (from personal experience ) |

| I think they only offer the driving course if you have been caught doing 35mph (I took this to cover my ex's backside - lesson learned!). x |

| Most insurers don't increase the premium for just the one SP30 (speeding conviction) but it does depend who you're with. xx |

| Id be very careful taking points for someone else. If its him and they find out you are in big trouble. He did it he should pay for it tbh. If hes been driving two his reduced points time is over. |

Ah I see, I think it'll be a case of tell them and see unfortunately. When is your policy due for renewal? If it's soonish you can wait til then and then declare it, if they increase it alot then at least you've got the opportunity to switch to a cheaper insurer. x |

| I've got 3 points for an sp30 and it did make a difference but not much.
I'd let him have his own points! |

| I got caught doing 36 in a 30 zone (in my defence I thought it was 40) and it never affected my premiums.....just gave my OH the oppertunity to laugh at me cos i am always nagging him about his driving. xx |
