Milo was fine all day yesterday but when I put him to bed he was really hot and red.. I took his temperature and it was 39.5 poor little man.

Gave him some calpol and a banana around 11pm and he was chattering and walking around, but was still really hot. Calpol got his temp down to 38.5 ish, so put him back to bed, he slept until 5ish then woke up boiling hot again more calpol cooled him down enough to sleep, and he slept through until 10am. Now he's eating cornflakes and is very hot to touch but smiling, eating, drinking.. I know i'm probably overreacting but does it just sound like a cold? He had a bit of a runny nappy last night but only once, hasn't been sick, no rash, very chatty..

could he be teething? A temp is their bodies way of fighting an infection, so try not to worry too much if he's ok in himself otherwise, just keep up with the calpol and you can give a dose of nurofen in between too, and keep him cool, open a window or two. Hope he's better soon x

aww hun as mandy says i thought teething straightaway when you said, just keep an eye and keep the calpol going.

if he no better or temp gets worse call 0845 46 47 thats nhs direct and you can talk to a nurse or doc who will give advice xx

i think it's just turning into a cold, I had to go to work (how bad do i feel, deserting him to go to work ) - but at least i was only in the next room so i could hear him chattering away - and his nose has started running, and he has a little cough so thats reassuring in a way, that its not something more serious. His breathing and heartbeat were so fast last night, it got me worried but i hope he's over the worst of it. He seems a bit cooler and is happy in himself, so thats good. Thanks for the advice and keeping me calm!

Thanks Mandy He had a bit more calpol and a lot of naps yesterday and finally seems to be cooling down! He had a pretty big dinner and a good sleep, so I hope he's over the worst of it Feel like I was overreacting yesterday but he doesn't usually get a temp that high even when he has a cold so I was a bit worried. Silly mummy!
