My mum rang this morn to say my great aunty has what looks like a stroke lastnight, they called my grandparents in as they are just going to try and keep her 'comfortable'. shes 95 so the likely she wont pull through, shes done nothing but sleep, speach has gone shes well 'nothing there' so to speak. breaks my heart as shes such an active person and they nurses in the home say how shes the joker of the lot, hiding and playing tricks. How you can live 95 years and when it comes to the end your body still wont give up. We all know its for the best, just waiting for the phone call now.

So sad as she was one of 12, and was born with some condition, which was never diagnoised really supose they never did in those days, but shes always been 'childlike' she had some mental problems I would have said.her memory wasnt the right hadnt been for last few years, when Id go and see her she wouldnt know who I was, Id say I was emma, but she had a picture of us as kids and say 'no thats emma.' like she didnt register we had grown up. They thought she wouldnt live passed 5 years old because of her condition!!! and shes now 95 and out lived the lot!! mad hey, mind 9 out of the 12 lived into their 90s. never had a car walked miles and miles a day to market and lived in a house in middle of a field in middle of no where, have to drive through fields to get to it no lane, no running water, had to get water from a well and the river. their house is beautiful, something out of a film, but when she was the last one and she went into a home a millionaire from london bought it and done it up never been to see it since bet its amazing now. crazy how they lived their lives to ours today and they all lived into their 90s doubt Il see 80 haha

just sad how life keeps you hanging on, sounds awful but I dont want her to pull through or its just going to be suffering for her final months/years

yeah im ok really, guess thats the difference when its someone who's lived a happy life for 90 odd years (never married or had a man in her life maybe thats the secret haha) than someone being young and ill and taken too early.

I know I will shed a tear when the time comes, but guess not the same as when its someone younger.

Aww sorry to read that.

Same thing happened to my nan at xmas, she was 76 and active, she was my grandads carer and he has Diabetes and dementia yet she had a stroke that killed half her brain and 3 days later she passed away.

We were the same as you so sad that it had happened but relieved when she passed as she would of hated living and not being in control of her life.

aw thanks you ladies. well shes still going shes a bloody strong one, but mum said yesterday she shes just unconscious (sp?!?) so its like her whole body has given up but her mind. at least when the time does come it will be peaceful and in her sleep so to speak.
Knowing her though she'l come through lol

To live an active life to the age of 95 is fantastic and she more than deserves a peaceful and dignified end.

If you can celebrate her life rather than mourn her death.
