Hi ladies, had to ring the MW earlier as I thought my blood loss was a bit heavy and I have passed a few clots. Anyway after describing it to her she said she thinks its ok and to let the MW that comes to visit me tomorrow know and they will have a look and see what they think. The one question she did ask was does it smell and I said no, but thinking about it, it does a little bit....so I dont know whether to ring them back or whether to just wait until the MW comes tomorrow, what do you think?? xx

I would say unless its really offensive smell then I would ring back otherwise Id wait till you see MW tomo. I passed loads of clots with Hollie, I kept mine (sounds gross I know) wrapped in the pad to show the mw fpllowing morn. If you think they are big enough to worry about so they can see. I passed some massive ones which I would have thought were somthin to worry about but I showed the MW the following morn and she said was fine. was my membranes as they wernt complete when my water went or something. If your feeling ok and the smell isnt strong I would wait till tomorrow, but if you think it is something you should be worried ring back hun for peace of mind xxx

i wouldnt worry til she comes if it only smells a little bit, when I had an infection after Chloe there was a really strong smell and they just gave me anti biotics. If you start passing lots of big clots or get bad pain, phone back, but otherwise I'd wait xx

| can only echo the ladies above
The smell that i noticed was a very metallicy smell, i am guessing from the blood i remember worrying i was going to smell for ever but i dont (i dont think)
you have stitches too dont you so that will contribute too. speak to MW tomorrow and just get some reassurance but the clots they are concerned about is ones as large as say the palm of your hand |

Brilliant, thanks ladies! I was hoping that was what you would all say, just hope if it is an infection that its simple to sort with antibiotics as the last thing I want is to have to go back to the hospital....i hated being in there xx

Im sure you will be ok hunni. When Lily was 5 days old I passed a MASSIVE clot... it was the size of the palm of my hand! I nearly passed out! I spoke to the midwife (who came to do the 5 day blood test thingy on Lily) and she seemed happy to leave me. That was the last one I passed. Keep a close eye on them though, as if you keep passing them it could be some placenta left behind. x

yeah i agree with what the others have said, clots are totally normal (i had some up to the size of a fist over a week after having elijah and was horrified/relieved to learn this is fine!) and there was an odd smell, sort of metallic and kind of like the smell of waters...sweetish? gross but yeah unless it is offensive it's probably fine but if you are worried you can keep the pad/pads and speak to mw tomorrow glamorous isn't it!!!

I had an infection and the smell was so strong i would bath put fresh clothes and pad on and still be very aware of it within 5 minutes, if you have to really sniff to smell anything then I wouldnt worry because infection blood is absolutely revolting (last thing you need just after giving birth lol) I also felt very ill had a high temp and was achey all over especially upper legs , maybe take your temp to check? chat to mw tomoro even if not massivley concerned as a quick swab will find out for sure and a course of anti b's sorts things out

This is bringing the memories flooding back of that metally chemically sweet smell. Its odd but once you smell it you know what it is Im sure my bathroom smelt of it for a cpl of weeks. Hope you ok siobhan, but if its just a slight wiff in the air im sure you are fine! I cant remember passing big clots, but if you worried do what others have said and keep them in a tissue. Im sure the MW will have seen it hundreds of times before. x
