Sleep advice _
PostSubject: Sleep advice   Sleep advice EmptyFri May 13, 2011 8:43 pm

Hi everyone

Liam has always been fantastic at going to sleep and slept through pretty much from about 4 months. But over the past few months he has had a lot of colds and tummy bugs and this has affected his sleep a lot so i have been getting up quite a lot with him in the night. For the past 3 ish weeks he has been well but has now got in the habit of waking up at 5.30. He is still tired as he is often crying and rolling around trying to get back to sleep. Sometimes he will go back to sleep but will only doze so i hear him on and off until i give up and get him up. Other times he won't go back to sleep at all but then is really mardy all day. Its really frustrating because i don't know what else to do as he obviously needs more sleep. He has blackout blinds, i have changed his bedtime from 7pm to 7.30pm and have shortened his naps from 2 hours in morning and 1 hour in afternoon to 1 hour in morning and 1 hour in afternoon but nothing is helping and its really starting to get to me.

Does anybody have any advice?

xx

It sounds like youre are doing everything that you can. Ellie has gone through phases like this but they only usually last a week or two. My only suggestion it get him outside for loads of freshair (Ellie is a fab sleeper but if we stay in all day she sleeps less). I stick Ellie in her pram and take for massive walks and then stop at the park so she can have a run and play. The long walks keep my would be huge arse at a reasonsable size too so its all good stuff. Just give it a try

Hi Hun, i really hate it when the routine goes out of the window, due to illness holidays ect. I find they get into the habit of things so quickly.

You have just got to presist in what ur doing, it takes them so long to get back into a routine and so easy to get them out unfortunately

Good luck hun hope it all sorts out soon.

Not much I can say hun because Wil gets up any time between 5.30 and 6.30 and always has (We have to be up by 6.30 for work anyway)

Could he be waking up hungry or because his nappy is full?

Wil has supper last thing at night and 3/4 pint of milk. He also wears a bigger size nappy at night to help it last the night.

Fresh air is definitely a good sleep improver because Wil has his best sleeps when we are camping.

Sarah meet his playmate Ava, she varies between 5.30 and 6.30 for wake ups after bedtime at 1830, ive tried moving her bedtime and it made no difference at all, just made her crankier in the evening, I do think its her natural body clock, i get up put a few toys in her cot and she plays for half an hours or so, she's always shattered by about 9:30 am and goes back to bed!
