So....Potty Training! _
PostSubject: So....Potty Training!   So....Potty Training! EmptyTue Apr 26, 2011 7:45 pm

Ive dreading this from the moment i found out i was pregnant Laughing
But since about November we have had a potty, we usually let Tay run around naked before her bath and she usually has a wee wee on the potty before her bath. So I think/thought she had the jist of it.
Well i tried her out in knickers yesterday, my god it was certainly eventful Shocked She was really good to start with but i think she kept forgetting she didnt have a nappy on while she was to hyper and playing and had a wee on the floor, then started to have a num 2 on the floor, so i put her on the potty and she finished....while i was doing that the dog snuck up and ate the little nugget on the floor Doh Puke
So, i think ill leave it a few weeks and try again, i need to have a free week of just staying in and keeping her in knickers i think.
So just a few questions...
1. Pull ups, are they worth it or are they just more confusing for lo's?
2. What the hell do u do when ur out? Should i get her used to the big toilet as well? (we have a seat thing) But i dont drive, so say we are on the bus and she needs to go, then what?! Shocked

Umm i didnt have more questions but have forgot now!

Izzy started to use the potty and almost refused to wear nappies, so she has pulls ups - they are MUCH easier as she lets me put them on (after she has used the potty) and I can put them on standing up (I think her main thing was she hated being laid down to put a nappy on)

However, I still think the potty is a novelty to her...I don't think she is serious about potty training as she can take it or leave it and one day might not ask to sit on potty at all..and another she will ask all the time

She is definitely ready in the physical side, cos she can hold her wee in for about 2 hours, which I think is really good...but I don't think she is quite ready mentally as she will hold it in for 2 hours when wearing her proper knickers but then just do the wee where ever...and then another time will sit on the potty, so very hit and miss.

My friend said that happened with her little boy and he just kept doing it so she kept putting pants on and he kept wetting them but cos he didnt like the feeling he realised it was better to do it on the potty...I am keeping this in mind but not til its summer so she is in dresses much more often.

You can get portable pottys that are apparently quite good

I'm dreading it too but I know ellie is no were near ready. When I was potty traing my son I used to put undies under his nappy when we were going of the house so if he had an accident the nappy was there for convenience but he still got the feeling of a wet bum so knew that it was best not to pee your pants. I wasn't been cruel as I changed him as soon as I could it was just so he was aware of peeing his pants.

This portable potty/ training seat is good

http://www.boots.com/en/Bibs-Stuff-Potette-Plus_857058/

It comes with liners and its own bag for when you are out and about.

Wil uses it as a training seat when I catch him and get him on the toilet in time and my niece uses it as a potty. The liners have frogs on the absorbent bit and my niece loves to pee on the frogs Laughing

We tried Jack at 2 but he just wasn't ready. Two months later we tried again and but he hated the potty. In the end i got a little seat and put him straight on the toilet. He loved it and we haven't looked back.

We had pull up for going out but still asked him if he needed the loo. Once he needed to go but we were miles from a toilet. I thought he would have gone in his pull up but he didn't! He held it until we got home.

Sticker charts were fab also, Jack would get a sticker if he used the toilet then after a few weeks he got bored of the stickers but carried on going on the toilet.
