Thomas is only just dry in the day now so I'm in no rush to start the nights yet. I'm hoping he'll let me know himself or just wake up dry and ask for the potty but I have a few questions: When they start to sleep nappyless do you put a potty in their room or can they go a whole 12 hours with no wees? Do I wake him to wee when I go to bed or will this just confuse/wake him too much? His room is mega dark so I would need to give him a night light if he had a potty in his room which I think might disturb him more Thomas still has 8-9oz of milk right before bed, do I need to start reducing this or giving him it earlier so he doesn't need to wee a couple hours after going to bed. Is there a time of night after which I should say no drinks - I don't like the thought of this as if you're thirsty you're thirsty - I don't like limiting his fluid as he doesn't drink that much to start with. Do I buy those absorbant pad things or a waterproof matress protector or both? Help!! xx

I think it's just a case of leaving them and when you're sure they can go all night stop putting a nappy in him. After becoming dry in the day time they don't seem to pee as much in the night. So let him have his wee before bed then stick a nappy on. Eventually the nappies become less and less wet so you can buy those really cheap ones. I certainly won't be arseing around with waking her up for a wee in the night. I honestly wouldn't give it too much thought as there's nothing you can do to make them dry night. With mine, Charlotte was dry at night at about 2 years 4 months and Paul was about 4. The potty in the bedroom is a nice idea

No advice and not to put you off.... Just wanted to say that my friends lil boy is 6 and still wears pull ups at night/wets the bed if they trying without. He was daytime potty trained at 2.5. He still wets 4 nights a week and she wakes him up to pee at 11pm most nights when she going to bed.... but still he can wet, sometimes even before she has woke him for his pee. He doesnt even wake when he wets himself, its like he isnt bothered lying in soaking pants and sheet. Another friends lil boy is 4 and in pull ups at night, not sure how often he wets though. Girls Iv heard seem to be quicker at catching on/controlling their bladder. Just wanted to say that I know thats maybe extreme examples but dont be surprised if its a long time before he is ready for being dry at night. he sounds like he is doing really well atm anyway! PS I can remember having a potty in my room up until about 4. It was because I was too scared to go to loo in the night on my own and it meant I didnt have to wake mum. I just got up, did a pee and went back to bed Think it was for emergency's really.

Just read in a mother and baby magazine that at 4yrs old 20% of children still arent dry at night and it was saying not to rush things or expect too much too soon. xxx

One of my friends little girls is the same age as Chloe and is dry at night already She said that she thought that her little girl was doing the majority of wee's when she wakes up in the morning rather than at night so just tried it and she was dry. Is he quite dry during day time naps? I would say leave a potty in his room and encourage him to use it as soon as he gets up, then see how dry his nappies are before stopping them, he is still very young though so don't worry too much I remember when my nieces and nephews potty trained my sister used to take them to the toilet asleep when she went to bed, and they'd go but not really wake up. As babymilly said though, there's not much you can do to get them ready at this age, it'll happen when he's ready x
