| When we found out I was pregnant, I had the idea of putting Aimee (3) and Lily (1) in bunk beds (possibly taking lily's cot in the room to start with). But I have been doing some reading on them and thousands of children get bunk bed injuries every year and an average of 10 children die from bunk bed injuries - 60% of those are children aged 3. The age guideline for a child sleeping on the top bunk is 6, obviously Aimee wont be anywhere near this age. This has completely put me off and doubled with the fact that if Aimee goes on Warfarin (blood thining meds) our problems will be doubled witih every bruise, bump and cut she gets. So, I think the new plan is to keep Aimee in her bed and move Lily's cot into Aimee's room (which is plenty big enough for both). What age would you put your children in bunk beds? x |

| Probably put the oldest in top bunk around 4 or 5, depending on maturity levels too. As some kids understand they can't jump down, whereas others seem to go mental trying to fly off them. |

| I would agree that Aimee is too young, I wouldn't put a child in a top bunk until a minimum age of 5
I know these are quite expensive, but how about something like this?

| ^^^ Lol, that is so strange Mandy! Good idea though. Aimee's room is quite big, so we can easily fit Lily's cot bed in, Aimee's bed and all of the furniture, without it being a problem. I will probably do that for a couple of years. By then we will probably be doing our extension so they will all get a room each and wont need to worry about bunks. x |

| Tommy was in bunk beds from around 4/5 nearer 5 i think. Charlie can climb up and down the beds and has never had an accident as yet. He sits and watches a film up there with his bottle. I wouldn't put him up there to sleep over night but he has fallen asleep in it during the day. |

| Mandy I love you!!!! we've been struggling with how we are going to put two in one room (when H is hold enough) and think this might be the way to go.
gonna show Trev tonight.
Laura - I think 3 is too young for a bunk bed they are so high as well. |

| my neice was 5 when she had her highsleeper, and rich was about 5 when he had his cabin bed, but to be honest we put a spare bed in his room too and he slept in that, he didnt like the cabin bed.
my bro and sil but other nieces bed under her sisters highsleeper and they slept well together for a little while but they soon started arguing about space etc.
i'd probably keep them in seperate beds for now if you have the space |

| I think my nephew was about 5/6yrs when he used to sleep top bunk. I was thinking about this recently too, as O is in a box room at the mo and if we were to have another bambino they would either have to go in bunk beds or we'd have to swap rooms so they'd be in the master bed room. There's enough room for O's bed and a cot, but not 2 beds. I like the idea of these though, they generally look a bit safer. Not too high and the steps rather than the ladder and Ooodles of storage too |

| Owen was 6 when he went into top bunk. No way would I consider younger....
What abput something like this, until a bit older.... quite likely to need a bed guard on 'top' bed to stop lower getting squished...
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6944627.htm
I considered these for Owen and Hayden but decided to hold out until Owen was comfortable on top then put Hayden in lower bunk |
