| Ok we are going to Ireland end Sept, beginning of Oct.
Now we can do the following:
Drive from home to Wales = 4 hours and 20 minutes Ferry from Fishguard to Rossalare = 14:30 to 18:00 = 3.5 hours Then a drive from Rossalare to Tralee = 4 hours and 15 minutes
Meaning we wont get there until around 11pm - Midnight
Or
Drive from home to Swansea = 3 hours Ferry from Swansea to Cork = is 20:30 to 08:00 (meaning a full nights sleep) Drive from Cork to Tralee = 1 hours and 50 minutes
Now to me the second option with a 2 year old and a 3/4 month old baby is the best option. We get a nice big break we'll all be refreshed and the driving is shorter too.
But OH is saying the first one only blah blah blah. But he said he'd look at it tonight.
What one would you choose? I thought I was being practical |

| Do you need a car when you are there? If not would you consider flying as ryanair do really cheap to Kerry and takes about an hour! |

| Id go for second too.... its great fun staying overnight on the boat and in my experience travelling is much easier when little ones can have a rest (we end u staying overnight in a hotel in the airport whenever we go home) as otherwise it's a solid 12 hours travel that just isn't worth the hassle. |

| I agree with Kate, I'd fly, whenever we go to Ireland we fly over then hire a car at the other end, I hate the ferry trip, but if you are fixed on driving then go for the second option |

| nope not flying. we always fly over but the flights and car rental plus rental of car seats and so on works out more then petrol and the ferry. plus we dont need passports for the kids on the ferry the plane we do
i'd rather fly as its quicker but we can take more stuff too |

| I would do the second option. It will be a nightmare doing the first option with 2 kids! x |

| I would do the second option too. It's a long time for the kids to be in car seats so you would have to keep stopping for breaks. Have the break on the ferry then you will have a drive, big break followed by one more drive. We are quite lucky we live 10 minutes drive from the ferry in Liverpool then an overnight sailing and an hour and half to get to my mum and dads in Donegal. It is quite expensive though. |
