soooo I am trying to get Elijah to start having naps at certain times (vaguely) according to tracy hogg's book - thank you ladies!

It is already making a difference after 3 1/2 days of hard work, but I'm wondering about naps.

None of Eli's naps have lasted more than an hour and most are 40 minutes almost on the dot - now when he gets up he's wide awake but still yawny and when I go to feed him he falls asleep, if I try and put him down again he wakes up....

Do you reckon it is just an association between food and sleep which is making him sleepy? I would prefer he napped for longer, the book says 1 1/2 - 2 hours!

He normally feeds every 2-3 hours so I think his usual eating times are cutting his naps short because he's hungry before he has had lots of sleep

I dunno if that made any sense, any suggestions?

Ive replied in ure other message hun but alfie only naps for about 40 mins at a time. He naps then plays until his next feed. I dont think the fact that hes hungry is waking him up - i think he may just be a cat napper.

Haveu tried writing down elis routine for a few days. SO jot down what time he gets fed, how long for, when he plays and naps etc and see if u can build the routine around him?

I have been since last tuesday - its changed quite a lot actually and today he managed to nap for an hour and a half and slept last night for longer in total than ever before so something is changing i have given in a few times though and fed him to sleep out of sheer desperation!

Lol - thats excellent well done eli!!! U just really need to persevere. Bum pats are a brilliant tool for getting alfie to sleep. A few good bum pats and hes away in the land of nod haha x

Rule of thumb i found with my Lo was 90 mins between naps and she would sleep for anything from 45-60 mins,
