We have a really lovely big kids room that Milo and baby will be sharing eventually. It's got magnolia walls, we've got a natural wood coloured toddler bed and cot bed, no proper colour theme yet but dark blue curtains with little white stars, one of Milo's duvet sets is mid-blue background with colourful robots.. We still have lots of space, and want to fill it with cute things, but we have no money!

For toy boxes, we're going to keep some big strong cardboard boxes and cover them with some funky wrapping paper.

as I think you can decorate them yourself. Also need some kind of nappy stacker or nappy/wipe etc organiser, then some kind of cute storage boxes as we have a really deep windowsill in that room that we can use for extra storage.

Does anyone have any good ideas for making anything cute and cheap by yourself? For the colour scheme we just want anything bright and colourful, no real theme. I would love it to look like this though!

why don't you get some tester pots of paint in bright colours and paint either circles or squares or something on one of the walls, that will really brighten it up and make a feature of one wall?

you can get plastic storage boxes in blue, green, white and pink from Ikea they're not very expensive ooooh and I just saw this - you could paint on the sides of this!

I love Ikea! they do curtains and rugs and all sorts.

Wow, some of those Ikea storage boxes are so cute!! and we could probably afford those. I would love to paint a wall, but we're renting so it might be a bit tricky. And with my artistic skills, it would probably be a disaster!

I was thinking of picking up some cheap fabric to make a blind, but it looks really hard. Or some fabric to cover boxes.. I'm all inspired but have absolutely no idea how to make anything!

For nappy/wipes organiser i just bought a cheap bookcase from Ikea and a set of wicker baskets from ikea also, can't find the link but its like 5baskets for £6 i think there were in the outdoor bit in the shop (not sure why)

As for brightening the place up why not get some cheap photoframes (Ikea actually do different bright colour ones - link not working search 'nyttja' on ikea website) and put some coloured paper/funky wrapping paper in and hang those up.

Basically get yourself down to ikea

you can get pretty cheap blinds in Ikea too you know I think we kitted out most of Tylers nursery from Ikea... I'm sure you'd be allowed to paint some blocks of colour on one of the walls - as long as you return it to magnolia when you go? or you can get canvas' for dirt cheap and paint each one a block of colour?
