How many of you have a tv/dvd in your lo room. I always said they were not having one till older but oh mentioned this morning that when they wake at 6 like this morning he could of put tv on till they get up at 7am ( I never get them up before 7). I'm unsure and think it could cause problems ie at bed time if H wants the tv on. X

I would try and hold out because I tend to think it'll be a distraction and H might decide he wants the tv on when he's supposed to be asleep. xx

ava's a bit younger but I definately wouldn't yet, she's usually an early riser too but I get up and put a few books and toys in her cot and she plays for about an hour.

Oliver has a Tv/DVD in his room (not actually bought for him, we just had a spare telly and no room to put it in lol)

Tbh, I wouldn't put it on on a morning when he wakes cos I fear i'd be making a rod for my own back. He usually sleeps till 7.30/8am but we never get up before 8am. This week he's been waking at 6.30/7am but I just encourage him to play with his toys and books in his room, I don't put the telly on cos I just don't want to get into that habit.
He doesn't watch it before bed either.

I do find it handy when I'm getting jobs done upstairs like cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms etc and he watches a dvd or when he's been washed and dressed..he'll watch it and play whilst I have a shower etc.

Invaluable if you ask me, but only at the right times Very Happy

lilly has a tv with dvd/vhs player she watches 15 mins of it with her milk before bed and has her milk and watches 30 mins in the morning, personally i dont mind her having it in there as she only watches 45 mins a day in there. the only other time she may watch tv in her room is if im doing the ironing upstairs or im getting dressed, i think its each to their own really, lilly watches maybe 30 mins of cbeebies downstairs a day xxx

I want to avoid telly in the bedroom if I can for as long as possible, but then we don't have one in our bedroom. If you're not sure how about leaving some books/toys out instead?

Izzy does, she has had it since Xmas (22 mths)

It goes on in the morning if she gets up before 9am...also it goes on as a bribe to make her lay still to have her bum cleaned!
Sometimes we will sit and watch a DVD up there, maybe while I tidy her room or something.

She never turns it on herself and doesn't have it on in the day usually as she has a play room upstairs with loads of toys.

Rowan don't have one. If he wakes up early (before 7am) then he gets in bed with us and goes back to sleep. If not then he sits with me and reads a book (he only comes in if he's not playing with his own toys in his room) if he wakes after 7 we get up.

We are not putting a tv in his room I don't feel there is a need for one. He lays in our bed for 30 mins sometimes less has his milk and a cuddle with me and OH whilst he watches a bit of Timmy time. Then he goes to bed in his room has a story then goes to sleep.

He can also turn our tv on, switch between tv and DVD so we dare not put one In his room

been there done that and regretted it.

rich had a tv in his bedroom and he was a nightmare wouldnt sleep, so it came out and he was much better.

i think it depends on the child, my neice as portable dvd player and she has that when shes been good, but its easy to take away when she being a pain.

i see a lot of kids with tvs in their rooms, but i wouldnt do it again, after my experience to be honest, it just didnt work and caused a huge problem,

so did the pc, in fact only electrical rich is allowed in his room his an alarm clock and light bulb lol

I had a TV in my room that Santa bought me when I was 4 or 5 Smile
I loooooooved it, but it made me want to be in my room on my own all the time. I dont think I bothered with it when I was younger though... I rememve coming home from school and watching Grease over and over and over again Smile and I ended up needing the telly to be on to fall asleep, so I probably won't put one in Tylers room.

we have a tv in each bedroom and the boys and Danielle have it on before bed , the boys drift off watching a movie , usually within 20 mins and Danielle gets put in her ct and a dvd put on while she has her bottle and she drifts off
she was such a srtuggle to get to sleep that at the time this was our only saviour some might say lazy option but it was either that or OH and i ripping each others eyes out in shattered rage
the tv in the living room is on all day and its very rarely that im watching something, it does not mean the kids are watching it all day but its just there in the background
