For the past 4 and a half hours Elijah has been falling asleep on me/daddy but every time we have gone to put him down any where he screams and screams - not just a little cry but the one reserved for hunger and nappy changes. I am at my wits end because I know he is really tired but we can't hold him all night any ideas? I am not really prepared to leave him as it's an urgent cry not a grizzle.

| Alfie sumtimes does this cry when he is over tired. Has he got a comfort blanket? or a dummy? Have u tried getting him off to sleep before u put him to bed? I always find a good bum pat works wonders!

Sometimes when Stephen is overtired I'll pick him up, give him a cuddle and then put him down again and if he's still crying, increase the amount of time between a cuddle and putting him down again. I also make sure the room is really dark and I don't say anything to him so he knows it's sleepy time. I hope you find something that works! xxx

Only just seen this now, how did you get on hun? The only thing i would have sugested is making suer he is fully asleep when you put him down or laying him on your bed and laying next to him cuddling round him but not having arm under him and cuddling him off to sleep then moving slowly away. If he stays asleep then leave him a while and after 20 mins or so try to move him to his cot then.

He eventually went to sleep at about 1, then was up every 1-2 hours I'm knackered but hes quite perky! We ended up holding him all evening and whenever he drifted off waiting 20-30 mins and trying to put him down. To no avail! I think it's because we are getting him up earlier, he is getting really overtired, but it needs to be done boooo
