| I know nothing about contracts, Matt and I have always had PAYG, so need a little advice. Matt broke his iphone so is in need of something new. We have a great deal with our PAYG but he's not going to be able to get a decent phone to use it with so wants a contract. I've found two deals that I think look good but like i said I know nothing about contracts so thought i'd ask you all. Here they are:
1 - Samsung Galaxy Ace - 600mins, unlimited texts, 500mb data and a free Samsung Galaxy tablet (those ipad look a likes) - £36 a month
2 - Samsung Galaxy Ace - 100mins, 500 texts, 250mb data and a free Samsung Galaxy tablet - £26 a month but you have to pay £99 up front for phone.
The second deal is cheaper in the long run by about £120 but obviously much less mins and he'd have to keep an eye on his texts too.
Which would you go for? |

| Its basically the samsung version of an ipad. It's worth about £300 I think so a decent gift.
I thought that about internet, but apparently the average person only used about 100mb a month or less, as at home or work it uses wifi. My sis checked her usage and in 2wks she'd used 0.8mb! |

| The internet is easy now most people dont need much of it as they connect through their wifi.
The minutes though on the second is low. 100 minutes can get used very fast.
are you wanting a certain provider?

| We wanted O2 but they refused us as previous tenants in our new house had bad credit and its coming up on this address (so annoyed!) Vodaphone accepted us on another deal so hoping they will on this.
I thought that about the mins but we dont really call anyone and Matt has a work phone he uses in the day. Our home phone gives us free calls to anyone including mobiles evening and weekends so don't know if we'd use more than 100. It's hard trying to work out average use.
Matt has said if he got the phone i could use the contract sim in my iphone as I'm better at sticking to the mins/texts. |

| Out of the two options I would for the first one because it's only actually £21 more expensive (for the first year) how long is the contract period? |

how long is the contract period? I was about to say the very same thing when my laptop shut down to update. Check contract length carefully as so many these days are 18 or 24 month. |

| Does he like his iphone? You can always take it to the Apple Shop in Milton Keynes who will swap it for a new one. Depending on how he broke it, they will either give him a brand new one for free (they did me when I dropped it) or charge £139 and give him a brand new one. x |

| If you're happy to pay a bit up front - my iphone was through carphone warehouse and is on O2, it was about £90 up front, £35 a month unlimited calls text and internet (data messaging is extra) and tied in for 2 years, which is nearly up and I'm still happy with my phone so I'll go onto a sim-only contract I think. We didn't bother with insurance though because it's so dear so I invested a further £20 on an Otter Box (from amazon) which has made it virtually indestructable (has been dropped a LOT of times and been puked on by imogen a few times too and has survived completely intact). x Em |

He doesn't have any paperwork for it. |

Matt has said if he got the phone i could use the contract sim in my iphone as I'm better at sticking to the mins/texts. Did O2 actually tell you that - cos its not right! Credit checks are done on the person now not the address (has been that way for quite a few years!), so it makes no odds who lived there before! Also O2 normally let you pay a 'deposit' on contracts if you don't have perfect credit. If that is what they told you I suggest you call back and speak to someone else! |

| i would go for the frist., but you know you need a sim card for the galaxy tab?
this is what im doing next month as i am due a update on my phone.. im with t mobile and i am getting the new samsung galaxy s 2, with 210 cred unlim net or with 600 mins unlim text and 500gig next for about 30ish quid.. the phone is basily a mini galaxy tab... as the tab is also a phone and runs off android..
so witht he deals you are looking at, your basily getting a small phone and a big phone if you get me? they do the same as each other i was looking at getting the tab insted of the phone but then i worked out its a bit of a brick to pull out your hand bag to answer a call x |

| No they didn't actually say that but we did the check on the computer system whilst in phones for u and they refused, we couldnt understand why, so they guy checked with our old address and accepted fine so guy in phone shop said its probs cause of the problems the old tenants had with debt. So don't know for deff but just seemed weird they accepted our us at our old address fine but not new one.
We've had a few other problems involving credit check recently with the new address. I didn't realise it was the person now address now. Weird that we've had problems still |

| Maybe it is just cos you've moved and the records haven't updated or something? Ive got crappy credit after my husband left me with huge bills...and I still got my O2 contract ... so I don't think O2 are as strict as some?
You should check on experian, you can get a free month when you sign up (just dont forget to cancel before end of month if you do)...then you can check its all correct!

| I think it might just been cause we've not been here long and it took us a while to change over bank accounts and get on the electrol role here. I'm hoping within a few months it should be fine but we'll see. I've been meaning to do that experian thing, I deff need to this weekend. |

x Def give it a go! I took mine in and they swopped it no probs with no paperwork! Mine was a iPhone 4 and I sold it on eBay for £400. So even if you do the contract thing then it's worth checking it out and selling it for the spare cash! Xx |

| I've only had a little play - Matt won't let it out of his site but it is amazing. Camera is excellent too.
We've been looking at phones for ages and im glad we finally decided on this. Went to 3diff shops and all people we talked to said they'd rather have just the galaxy sII than the ace with tablet as well. |
