| To remove woodchip wallpaper from walls? and how much ££ do you think a decorator would cost to remove it? i can probably do it myself with help from mum and stepdad, but is it going to take days?? i have 2 bedrooms to do! The walls will probably be shitty underneath too but ill just have to repair them with polyfilla lol. |

| Hhhmmm depends? I've taken loads of woodchip off in my time and it's ranged from unbelievably-losing the will to live-taking a week for one wall-hard to not bad at all Can you do a little test area and see how it goes? I really recomend hiring a proper steamer if you can hun - they are fab and will bring of even the most stubborn woodchip quite well and leave less marks on your walls in the process. If its got quite thick paint on it though you will need to scrape the top layer before steaming though so the steam can penetrate propery. Good luck! xx |

| well my mum has a steamer so thats sorted, it is painted, i was gonna scoore the wallpaper first to let the steam in, iv tried a little bit, and its coming off in about 5 cm chunks, and sometimes only the top bit comes off, and then it looks like a donkeys breakfast on my wall!!! iv notices around the doors and stuff there are big cracks in the plaster but im hoping ill be able to fill them... and then im gonna do lining paper and paint them. The decorating in my house, is utter shite!!! they havent even papered the corners properly, just like... used one sheet of paper, and pushed it into the corners lol. the ceilings are wallpapered!!! actually, one room isnt woodchip, its this weird paper thats like, all raised up in a pattern? i dont think its anaglypta, cause thats the stuff with polystyrene in isnt it? |

| I've only done it once and it was really easy to get off...but Ive also heard it can be a biatch to get off
You'd be better off getting some school kids than a decorator! A pro will charge you normal rates to remove it!
If you are using lining paper I dont think you need to bother filling it |

Oh dear this sounds like our new place. We go to decorate and just look at it and think wtf did the people before do?! makes the job 10x harder. i'm lucky in that Matt is quite good with diy, i admire you for attempting to do it yourself. Good luck. x |

| it can be a nightmare to get off the walls, but rewarding once done.
but a steamer is the key and if you can try to keep the door shut so that the rooms becomes hot too, this will help.
brings back memories of gutting my first 2 homes, the one we in now all the rooms are magnolia, its like a blank canvas, but landlord wont let us decorate, |

| our downstairs in magnolia, and i love it, but upstairs is all shoddy, the landlord knows this so i think shes glad to have it done for free lol. im not gonna spend too much money though, just a few rolls of lining paper, wallpaper and some paint! i just got the samples of wallpaper through that i ordered, and the one for sophies room is SO lovely!!! the one for my room is pretty nice anyway! |

| This bungalow had woodchip in 3 of the bedrooms and 2 rooms were horrendous, it took us a week to do each room as we were doing it when Libby went to bed. The walls were terrible afterwards too, we got the walls replastered so we could start from scratch and paint smooth walls. One thing I would say is be careful with the steamer, we used one on a previous house and it blew the top layer of plaster, again we had to get the wall reskimmed as pollyfiller was still visable once painted. We didnt use one on this place, we peeled off the top layer of the paper then soaked the rest with warm/hot water with a big sponge - works just as well but no damage to the walls. Good luck though hun!! x |

| It's hard but I'd rather do it myself and save some money rather than pay a pro. Very good advice about been careful with the steamer, I've ruined a few Walls this way! |

| Thats the reason i was gonna remove the w/chip, then fill the cracks ( iv done a few test patches and there are cracks everywhere!) then lining paper it, and then paint. so that you defo cant see the filler, and i have a feeling that he walls are gonna be all multi coloured underneath lol. |
