about the electricity cuts...

It's just getting worse and worse at the moment not better. tuesday was just one cut for about an hour and a half, just about bearable although was at Tylers nap time so he couldn't go to bed because of the heat...
Wednesday was about 11 till 1 AND about 3.30 to 5.30 Tyler was in bed from 3 ish but managed to sleep through the heat (woke up really hot and sweaty) and we nearly had to cook dinner on the BBQ but was ok.
yesterday was cut between 1.30 and about 4 (I think) Tyler couldn't nap again. and then cut between 8.40 and 9.30 at night. Tyler was in bed and didn't get too hot so slept through it.

so today they announce that the cuts are going to be 2 hours twice a day (they still haven't said when it's just random)

I'm so anoyed its just so unfair Im thinking about going back to Jersey but I can't really afford it, I can stay at my mums house but it's not child friendly, there's only 2 bedrooms one of which is teeeeeeeny. there's no stuff there as mum bought it all out to Cyprus(like cooking and cleaning stuff) I oviously don't know how long I might have to be there - what if I can't travel back to Cyprus to have the baby and have to have it in Jersey, with no baby stuff

i really have no idea im sorry - why are they having cuts and are they likely to be permanent/long term?!

i suppose that really if you were to end up having the baby in jersey that is better than having a newborn in cyprus with no electricity.....hm hard

it's because some idiot left a load of containers outside in the heat that blew up and destroyed the power station lol it was new and provided more than half of the electricity we need so they can only generate less than half which means we all have to have random cuts to try and save power.
they're not really sure how long it's going to be, it will take about 12 months to rebuild the power station but they might be able to get enough generators from the rest of europe to help... just don't know yet

Jade my cousin in Napa hasnt had one cut yet! So random, but my auntie in Limassol has had loads. I think they are trying to keep the tourists!
It would drive me mad as well i think its worse by not knowing when! Why cant they turn it off at like 5am or something?

Terri they've promised that it won't affect the toursits... so maybe that's why ayia napas been ok? they aren't cutting any of the hotels either but how many people come to cyprus on a holiday, stay in a hotel and sit in it all day? most people are out

I think at 5 am no one is using electricity (only fans and aircon) so that can generate enough to cover that... it's mainly during the day that they can't produce enough power.
If it was just meand OH I think it'd be ok but I can't make Tyler fit around this dodgy schedule not knowing from one minute to the enxt if we can cool ourselves down or cook any food. aagggghhhh.

I think id go back tbh. even if you do have the baby in jersey at least it has electric

but then a baby doesn't need electricity does it it just needs its mummy.
feeding the baby won't be an issue as we have a gas camper stove thingy (its only tiny) but we can use that to heat the bottles up and we can make them and sterilise when the power is on.
apart from that baby doesn't need the electricity and come november we won't need air con or heating as the temp is perfect.
its more the immediate future Im worried about - I just checked some airlines and BA let you fly up to the end of your 36th week of pregnancy so I could go and come back just before bubs is born. (or after the summer heat... in october some time)

we've just had our first powercut, 12 till 2, god knows when or if we'll have a second though.

How annoying for you.
If its that unbearable i would go to jersey just for awhile till the heats not so bad before bubas due xx
