I'm taking Ava for a haircut in a few hours, last time she had a total meltdown and they could only cut half a fringe . What can I do to make it stress free as possible and come out with a haircut?

Did you sit with her on your lap or did she sit on her own. I had Imogen sitting on my lap and she was much more comfortable than when we tried to sit her on her own.
Also I got mine done first so she knew exactly what was going to happen. Maybe get there a little early and watch a few people get their haircuts.

thanks shell, she was on my knee but as soon as they put the gown around her she went beserk
I'm going to get my fringe cut first to see if that calms her down xxx

Aww bless her. Could you just take a change of clothes so they don't have to use the gown? Could you take some favourit/naughty snacks? x

I have only just managed to get Thomas' hair cut for the fist time last week He was looking a right state and I was dreading him at the wedding with mad sticky up hair - very shallow of me I know but it was a MESS!!

He went to the hairdressers with Paul a few times and was always fine until they wanted to start and then he would have a major meltdown. In the end I have had to get his sister (big sister not hannah ) do it at home, she has just finished her hairdressing NVQ. He was much more comfortable at home but still had to bribe him with sweets and it took two attempts to get it all done

Not a great amount of help hun but if she still doesnt have it done this time could you maybe find a freelance hairdresser to come to your house - she might feel more comfy in her own surroundings until she gets used to it and is old enough to understand that someone isnt trying to cut her ears off

well we have a haircut! she had a meltdown but then I distracted her with a comb and a hairclip, it's hard work this toddler business.

But - I cut Ellies. After her bath and she's having a bottle I just snip the ends off (I was a hairdresser for many years). so far she is completely unaware that she's had trim.
