Just think though only 100-150 years ago girls were married off between 12-14 and were having babies a year after being married.

Some days, just some, I believe in compulsory contraception.

And FFS! I hadn't even had my first snog at that age.

I will shut up nowas I don't wnat to upset anyone but clearly I disapprove of the whole situation!

It does seem shocking, BUT i have to say when I hear of a 17 yr old having a baby it doesnt shock me so technically then neither would a 34 yr old grandparent. (It still would but iykwim).

Becoming a grandparent in early-mid 30's is prob the norm in some areas, so 29 is only a small step behind. I cant imagine it myself but!

I know kelly, but you could argue in those days women weren't allowed to work, vote and regularly get a smack in the mouth from there husbands if their dinner wasn't ready, just because they used to do it doesn't make it right.
I guess I think that kids should be kids for longer, there's plenty of time for them to deal with the stresses of life and being a parent, and they should enjoy being young and carefree for longer.

Do you know it took me a while to register on that photo which was Dad and which was grandad, I couldn't conceive being a nan already, it's mad

My friend had her first baby when she was 15 and her mum had her when she was 15 so my friend's mum was a nan at 30. It was shocking but its just life. My friend made a very good mum and went on to have another baby 17, her boys were a credit to her.

But I do know that given a choice she'd have rather waited and enjoyed her childhood. She never had much help from her mum as her mum was still young and had other kids, including one younger than my friends kids. So my friend totally missed out all the teenage stuff the rest of us did.

She's a gran now and has a granddaughter the same age as Ellie and she thinks I'm totally bonkers for having Ellie at 41 lol

My MIL made her mum a gran at 32 but Rob was a very happy and well looked after baby, by his mum at least. His dad was a violent pig! xx

its the way of the world, aslong as the kids are looked after, you could wait years to have a baby at the right time and then it might not happen.

they could be great grandparents at 45 and great great grandparents at 60... nothing like following tradition
