Caitlin loves show me show me on cbeebies. In the newer series there is a cartoon section of about 2min with a character 'ookie'. Everytime this bit starts she stops still and looks terrified, at the end of the section slow music plays as he flys into his flower to go to sleep and Caitlin starts crying and shaking hysterically. She appears quite traumatised by it.

I think its the music but I dont know how to deal with it. I generally pick her up, give her a cuddle (she burys her head in my shoulder) and keep repeating that he is going to sleep and the music is sad but he's happy in his bed. Is this the right thing to do or would you ignore her tears completly? She is really upset by it.

Anyone else's toddlers get upset/afraid by really random things? What do you do?

How odd - Izzy LOVES Uki - if she isn't in the front room and she hears the music she will run in shouting Uki, and if its on while she is having food I pause it cos she hates to miss him!

I really don't know what upsets her about him!

TBH I wouldn't console her as that is reinforcing the behavior - like if my dogs get scared of fireworks and I mollycoddle them they just get worse and more silly! I think I'd just distract her to play with something else when he is on and she will soon get over it!

Aw poor Caity C adores Uki and has her own Uki flower in the back garden. Wish i knew what to suggest but we have had Noo Noo phobia here for a long time to the point c cries at the thought of the hoover coming out. We dont really cuddle her much I just prewarn her im getting noo noo out so she can sit up high on the sofa and afterwards I show her that noo noos gone back to bed cos he has finished his dinner and shes slowly improving she doesnt cry as much anymore though she does shake still

Ellie adores Uki and says night night when he curls up in his flower at bedtime.



But in general Ellie is a bit of an odd kid about possesions. For instance my sis bought a pair of shoes the same as mine and Ellie cried and cried and just kept shouting No mummys shoes!! Also when i hand my card over in shops she screams until it comes back to me. The worst experience lately was at the airport when we checked the bags in she was soo stressed about us leaving the cases with the lady. OOOh and yesterday we had to drop our kitty cat off at the vets to be spayed so she screamed and screamed when we left her there - Oh Tabby, Oh Tabby Oh Tabby, oh god, oh god, oh god, oh tabby oh tabby - all the way home!
