how much do you let gender decide what you do/don't buy?

really? i remember my brother having a dolly...i don't actually think it's that weird, and i think that girls/boys toys can be just as interesting to everyone......i am aware that that isn't necessarily a popular viewpoint though and that i will need to keep myself in check if i don't want to alienate elijah when he is older?!

I thought it was a boy for sale too!

Probably not but that's more because I'm not really girly although if he wanted a baby or something like that I would. However, if I had a girl she'd probably have 'boys' things

Amelia has a remote control digger and cars. She looks at the "boys" toys in toys r us. I would say if you think he'd like it then balls to gender stereotypes x

i brought rich a dolly, it was a boy one and he loved it till my brother told him he was a girl, he never played with it again. he was 3 at the time...

i dont think i would because i love all the boy toys, fireman sams building or postman pat, but if you want to then go for it hun,

the real question is does he want it?

Id buy it. Caitlin likes balls, cars, postman pat etc so why shouldnt a boy be into house type things. Im thinking of getting Caitlin a garage for xmas.

i don't know if he wants it, i was vaguely looking for christmas and out of the happyland stuff i was looking at it was the cutest Laughing

its this one http://www.elc.co.uk/HappyLand-Forest-Fairy-Treehouse/127418,default,pd.html

i just feel he will end up with lots of cars, trucks, balls etc which is fine but maybe he would like something that isn't blue or red!!!

I would without a doubt.

I think Ellie would quite the farm. I hated girly things when I was child.

if the flowers on the front were not pink it could be very easily for both sexes i am surprised that the manufacturer hasn't clicked on to this to make more money lol x

I would like to say yes but in reality I don't think I would. Before Hannah came along all Thomas's toys were quite boyish (apart from all his newborn ones which are generally fairly neutral). We now have a mixture of girls and boys toys and although they both play with all the toys I must admit that they both seem to tend towards their own gender toys iykwim?

It's really weird because we have never said anything to Thomas about gender stereotypes etc but just from seeing hannah's clothes and blankets etc he has picked up that pink is for girls and blue is for boys e.g. if I put his lunch on a pink plate he refuses it until i put it on any other colour telling me that's not his dinner it's Hannah's Rolling Eyes

xx

I wouldn't have a problem gettin it for Tyler if I thought he'd like it.

He's getting a kitchen for his bday along with shopping trolley and food and till etc. He has a tea set and a pram - I guess all things that people would say were more aimed at girls but he's going to be a real man that knows how to cook and clean not a lazy bum Smile

I hate gender stereotyping.
