| just pondering - we have weighed elijah at home a couple of times (1st trying to get him on the scales - har har - then daddy holding him), and it seems he has jumped up centiles again...
now i don't think he is particularly chubby but is very strong and seems quite tall. he was 9th centile for a few months then settled at the 50th centile and was right on the line again at about 9 months....
i haven't seen the hv since then cos she was an *rse but having weighed him a couple of times this week he seems to have jumped up to the 91st centile?! am i feeding him too much???? he does eat loads but hes always on the go. should i be concerned that he has jumped up so much in the past few months? (hes 14 months now) or shall i just wait and leave him to it? |

| I wouldn't worry as you're not feeding him junk. Jamie started on the 75th and is off the chart now. I keep being told you can't overfeed a baby or young toddler so I guess his just finding his natural weight |

| I think it's probably just a wee spurt (or in Elijah's case, a big one!), Arwyn's been just below 91st for months and at her one year check she's 98th for height & weight |

| Id say he is prob just finding his natural weight/adjusting his appetite.
I do think BF babies tend to be leaner/ slightly lower on centiles (I know Liberty's Jamie and my friends son didnt follow this trend mind so they all dif) when they are small babies and then I think it evens out a bit at weaning and babies become the size thats natural for them.
Id also be mindful that at Elijahs age even 3-4lb can make a huge jump on centile chats and depending on clothing/last poop/how wriggly he is/accurate scales are etc you may not be getting his true weight iykwim.
Id leave him a bit and then see HV if you still worried. It sounds like he has a very healthy balanced diet and you dont feed him high calorie crap. What are you supposed to do, starve him? I suppose the only thing you can do is monitor his milk intake, but thats quite hard when BF. If you were btl feeding and he was still taking 3 9oz btls a day and you were concerned about weight id maybe suggest switching one to water. |

| Actually that reminds me - the one sensible hv I ever spoke to said bf babies tended to be very big or very little and that they all worked out to whatever weight they should be eventually. Also, I know babies that are on low centiles when they were born for whatever reason (and wasn't he a teeny bit early) can take a year or more to catch up to what they might naturally be |

| ^^^yes both my bf babies were totally different, leo was a beefcake and ollie was diddy!!
oliver started on the 50th centile, upped to the 75th and above but at 15 weeks dropped to the 9th-25th and just kind of setteld there...hv said not to worry too much as long as they are in a similar place on height/weight centile...even then he could just be bulking up for a growth spurt x |

| hmm thanks ladies - at the moment there seems to be no filling him so i think we will maybe just keep an eye on how much he is snacking between (rather large) meals....but i as i say he literally doesn't stop moving between 6.30am and 7 or 8pm except if hes napping, and he looks ok plus a lot of his 12-18month clothes are still too loose at the waist... i wonder if he is tall, i haven't managed to measure him any ideas how?!!! - Quote :

| I know! I couldn't believe it either cos she's quite skinny now, she's lost most of her baby chubb but people says she's tall so I guess she actually is she doesn't really eat a lot either, she's 24lb 8oz! |
