Do you enjoy being host? _
PostSubject: Do you enjoy being host?   Do you enjoy being host? EmptyTue Aug 09, 2011 8:31 am

I have 2 friends who I visit once every week or 2 for a playdate/catch up. It makes sense that I go to theirs as they dont drive. Caitlin always see's MIL at her house (MIL doesnt drive), we go to my mums on a Sunday for dinner, I take Caitlin to visit my granda....

I have an old work friend who comes her once every cpl months for lunch/coffee and a friend who used to come over pre pg for a btl of wine evey other month or so but apart from that I dont really 'entertain'. FIL & SMIL call once a fortnight to visit but if the weather nice they take Caitlin out and only stay hlf hour - they lucky if I remember to offer tea/coffee as I dont drink it.

Iv had my mum for dinner 3-4 times in 2 years and generally its been last min and just whatever I have in, MIL has ate here twice and again thats been a last min thing and both times has been chippy Embarassed I think my MIL is a bit put out as she invites us every 2-3 weeks, but I just see that as her enjoying feeding Caitlin - how weird do I sound, its true but lol. Iv cooked for my own friends about 3 times in 2 years....

Basically I never have family for meals, hate the idea of MIL being here, usually im the one visting friends.... Im not really a host person. I dont mind close friends calling in but I dont go out of my way to invite people for coffee/lunch etc. I also dont like people calling over without ringing 1st - incase the house a tip or im in my pj's at 3pm!

Are you a good host or do you prefer to keep your home to youself?

Nope I'd rather got to other people. Fortunately my Mum and sister are both the kind of people that love to have people over. I think I'm fairly anti - social anyway because I always dread going out (although I love it once I'm there).

I love cooking for other people and have family over for dinner regularly, but I don't like people turning up unannounced, if I'm not working I usually look like a tramp in my pjs plus I like time to tidy up a bit

I have always got people coming round and love having lots of family and friends to visit for bbq/drinks/sunday lunch. However i like planned visits only and cannot abide 'dropper inners' as it is always at the time when you are sat in your pjs with no make up, food on your top and worzel gummidge hair

I like having people round and hosting but it has to be a planned event. I cannot cope with people dropping in. I need time to prepare house, myself and Imogen.

OOOOOOH I just love it!!!!!

I even have different cutlery sets for different occasions and different glasses and plates, I have tableclothes and wine buckets and every type of candle and candlestick. I secretly fantasise that I run a top quality restaurant hehe.

I just love the whole thing, I cook everything from scratch and if I'm doing a Sunday dinner I start preparing it on Saturday.

I'm always looking for an excuse to have people over for dinner or to have a party.
