I was driving to work this morning and a stone hit my windscreen and has chipped it.

They are not sure whether they will need to replace the whole windscreen or can repair the chip... I think its too big to repair, tbh.

They are coming between 2pm and 4pm to sort it out.

I then had to pay excess over the phone, but realised my bank cards are at home, so have had to transfer the cash to my OH so he can pay it for me!

Im not having a good day!

that auto glass mob are a bunch or robbing beggers!! 2 guys in my estate work for them. their advert... we do all the paper work. sort it with ur insurance company, and no need to pay excess!! bollox! iv got windscreen cover with a £50 excess.... still had to pay it... the other lie.. it wont effect ur no claims bonus. it frigging well did! so, i chinned the guy whilst he was at the park with his wean and he said, yeah its business users that mainly applies to

Oh no, surprised you had to pay the excess before the work was carried out, that's very unusal!!! Hopefully it can be repaired.

Laura, really? It difinately shouldn't of affected your no claims bonus, you can have as many windscreen claims as you like without it affecting it. I would speak to your insurers and demand they reinstate it!! xx

My OH works for autoglass. It shouldnt affect your no claims bonus at all. That must be the insurance company. Most companies do windscreen cover now with minimal excesses.

I have had to pay £10 for the chip repair, but will have to pay £75 if the screen needs replacing.

I am hoping they can do the chip repair though!

Aww hope it's just the £10 option hun. When we got a chip in ours earlier this year we were on the motorway and by the time we got home it had spread into a massive crack right across the windscreen so obviously needed replacing. I was quite impressed actually - they came the next day to our house and did it there and then and cost us £65.

Yay... they managed to do it!

So... only cost me £10...

Im off to buy Aimee the clothes that I have picked out for her in Next (now im in £65 credit, of course!! )
