i am debating whether to tell my son the truth , he is 10 now and all his friends know the truth , my son doubts that parents spend all that money on their kids so still believes there is a fat man in a red suit
now because all his friends know the truth i dont want him to start a new school year and be open to bullying if you know what i mean

i dont want to burst his bubble and i would love to keep him a child forever but his brother knows the truth and again i dont want him ridiculed !

what age did you find out or be told by parents ?
my OH thinks its time he knew, what do you think ? when do you think is a acceptable age to let them know that its the parents

I told my kids by 10 as most of their friends seemed to know and they were doubting anyway, i kinda hinted for a year that maybe he wasnt real but never quite confirmed it and they just werent sure for a year which was fun, but then i told them the truth. Its actually easier at that age when they know the truth cause you can talk about xmas with them and explain how much things cost etc etc xx

I think you should tell him because the kids I know who didn't know at secondary school was bullied.

I knew from quite a young age because I was scared off him so my parents told me

erm... I have never been told that Santa is not real... and every year we still pretend he is pmsl.



at secondary school no one ever spoke about Santa... in primary school so at 10 ish people had been told by their parents that he wasn't real but I never asked my mum and so she never told me.



There was a year where I wasn't sure and then I found all our Xmas presents in the attic so when I opened these presents from Santa I knew it was actually mum lol.

One of our RS teachers (at the school I work at rather than mine) mentioned it in a lesson and a girl's parents phoned in as apparently she went home in tears because she thought he was still real!

I.never got told that he wasn't real. just i guess.worked it out one day.. Perry on the other hand find out when he was.small as.his number used the same wrapping paper as they used.. so she said that some times Santa is busy.and forgot to wrap his stuff.

we sat rich down a couple of months ago to tell him, mainly due to our 7yr old niece knowing.. too smart for her own good that one,

anyway we sat and we mentioned the easter bunny, which he knew wasnt real and then he goes and tells us santas not real

i was worrying for days about telling him, but he already kind of knew.

but i think 10 is about right age, if rich was in mainstream we would of told him last year,

now the toothfairy is real

anyway Santa IS real.... because who else lives in lapland and employs the elves *tut*

My parents never told me, and still pretend its him who gets my presents! But my cousin Dawn told me when I was about 7 and I was gutted and cried and felt conned by mum and dad.



My son who is 14 had suspisions from the about the age of 9 or 10 and confirmed his suspisions, but we still talk about santa. My daughter, Charlotte is 21 and I still havent had the courage to tell her, she's so sweet and I think she still believes

I was about 10 when I found out.
I wouldn't personally want Flick starting comp and still believing in Santa as I dont want her to get bullied, most kids work it out by themselves by 10 or 11 anyways I think x

BabyMilly I bet your daughter is thinking "aww my mums so sweet she thinks I still believe in Santa - i daren't tell her the truth"



because that's exactly how I felt once I knew and my mum continued to wrap gifts - put them in sacks on Xmas Eve in secret and wake up to the surprise that Santa's been lol.
