PostSubject: Still not interested!   Still not interested! EmptyTue Aug 16, 2011 12:13 am

although I have been saying for a while now I am not worried about Megan not being potty trained yet, it is slightly starting to bother me now Surprised I also know that as she was so prem she is probably at least 2 months behind where she would normally be had she been born at full term. So has anyone got any tips on how to get her trained? I tried on saturday to put pants on her and asked her to let me know when she needed a wee? so within half an hour she had wet her pants and not even flinched at the fact that she was wet?? I know all the super nanny advice about not pushing them etc but even taking the prem into consideration she is 2 yrs and 6 months. She will be starting part time nursery school in January Shocked Shocked Shocked so I need her to be properly trained by then. Help!!!! x

Cant she go to nursery in nappies? Caelyns pre school would have taken her untrained. ID honestly not fret yet if shes not noticing shes wet she def not ready. Try www.pottytraining.co.uk for some signs of readiness and tips. But she may decide in a month shes ready to and when she does do it really quick. And if they will take her in nappies at nursery she may do it then when she sees the other kids doing it

I'm not really sure about Nursery I just assumed that they like them to be potty trained as its school?? Shes in a childcare nursery now 2 and a half days a week and they have been putting her on the potty when some of the others go but shes not really done anything on the potty herself. She does tell us when shes done a poo in her nappy but thats after shes done it. Anyway thanks for your reply Mario I will have a look at that link now. Smile

They didnt seem too bothered when I took C to pre school for induction, in fact they said to tell them when i wanted to do it and they would help then a week later she decided it was time. If shes telling you after shes def not there yet. Even once they egt to telling you as its happening its hard, i persoinally waited til she gave me a bit of pre warning and within 6 weeks she was dry day and night

I know it shouldn't bother me really and in general it doesn't but a little bit of me is reading that everyone elses child is doing it so much before her. I have never been one for being worried about how quick my child does this or that etc but I know you are right exactly what you say will I'm sure happen. So how old was C when she did it? Ha ha see it really doesn't matter does it but its interesting to get others experience on it too. Rolling Eyes

Aimee is exactly the same age and she isnt potty trained yet.

We had her 2.5 year check on Friday and the HV said if she isnt showing signs, dont waste my time, she will do it when she is ready and to just wait until she is telling me she needs a wee/poo.

She said that most kids dont tend to learn until nearer 3 years old now, so I felt quite happy with that.

I am starting to try her, but we had a go today and she just peed on the carpet without a second glance.

C was about 2 years and 1 or 2 months but im guessin thats just her cos shes dry at night too already. Awen might decide to wait til shes 3! I do understand, as much as we wanna be relaxed parents sometimes its only human to compare. C didnt walk til 18m and it drove me potty

Helz hun dont worry, Libby was exactly the same and even a week ago we put her in knickers but she wet herself and was absolutely distraught and kept asking for a nappy to go on.

It was saturday night that me a Simon decided to hide her nappies and tell her we didnt have any so she had to wear knickers. I created a reward chart in front of her and told her that she had to do use the potty 10 times and she'll get a treat, after her first wee she got a sticker and was soooo excited! In her first day (yesterday) she did half an accident where she'd forgotten she wasnt wearing a nappy so started to wee but finished off on the potty but did 14 wees on the potty, so far today she has weed 7 times on the potty and again only half an accident when she'd forgotten again (was first thing this morning).

It's up to you whether you want to push her into it, we did and so far it has worked or alot people say they'll do it when they're ready.

Oh and with regards to preschool, Libby's were happy with her in nappies and even said they would help if training etc.

I guess I just keep forgetting about her being premature so think of her as actually being 2yrs and 8 months, which she is, but in development terms she isnt!!! Oh dear I just need to chill about this one!

Susan sounds like its working well for you good on you! The other thing I have in mind too is that in 3 weeks time we have 2 weddings in 2 days where Megan is flowergirl at both!!!!! Shocked so I think I will just leave it till after that and give it another go then as that in itself is going to be stressful!! Thanks for all the advice girls Smile x
