| I know the guidelines are no duvets for under 1 year olds but Awen doesnt seem to get on with her sleeping bags. shes like me and likes covers up round her ears and tucked under her fists so she can pull them close to her face. Ive been having to put a lightweight bag on her along with a light blanket so she can do this.
However during the day she has 1 nap downstairs (the two morning and early afternoon ones are in cot) and i put a cot duvet I was given over her and she sleeps wonderfully so last night I put a coverlet a friend made me (which is fleece backed and as heavy as a duvet) over her with no sleep bag and tucked it all in securely under the mattress but left the top free to tuck under her fists the way she likes it
12 hours later.....
she went down at 645 without a peep and only woke at 545 because c was shouting so gave her a dummy and she went straight back til 620, she hadnt even moved position and usually i find her all over the cot with her blanket tangled round her so to lie still and sleep all night is unheard of for this little wrigglebutt
Now i know the guidelines are no duvet under 1 because of the risk of smothering etc but to my mind shes safer under this duvet because its so well tucked in compared to blankets it doesnt move and if she does crawl off she wont go dragging it with her the way she does with her blanket and if she does wiggle under it it seems less likely to end up in her mouth to me. Also as shes a tummy sleeper (determined to flaunt all guidelines this one) she has her angelcare monitor on so if she ran into any problems the alarm would go off.
Makes me think if shes comfier, ive got the safety covered and shes sleeping really well maybe i should ditch the bags? Just wondered what everyone else though |

| I've been wondering this because of Jamie. I thought it was because they might overheat that they weren't supposed to have them but I would have thought she was starting to control her own body temperature by now. If nothing else she can move so will move up the cot if she got too hot. I think you know what's best for your child (hypocritical coming from me I know as I always want to follow the guidelines) so if you think it would help I'd go for it |

| Hey liberty Yeah i went off for a shufti after postingthis and its in case they overheat seemingly which seems counterintuitive to me as if she gets too hot in a sleep bag shes stuck in it yet has been commando crawling since 3 months so if shes too hot under a duvet i know shes more than capable of buggering off up the cot
And as for following guidelines i was always way more anal with c but im more relaxed with A as i think im more confident in myself and knowing whats worked and what hasnt. Plus i have the worlds most cussed shild who seems determined shes not gonna follow a darned single rule and is happily eating fish and bread at 5 months old, sleeping on her tummy etc etc lol. Teen Awen should be fun... |

| Perhaps as a teen her rebellion will be to follow every rule! You can only hope |

| I'm not really a listener to guidelines! Izzy had a pillow from 4 months and carried on with it even when she could turn...she also like blankets up by her ears (me too, I just have my face poking out lol)
Id say if she likes it then do it! |

| I must admit by and large of the guidelines dont suit me I ignore them. Im probably even looser with them with Awen than I was with Caelyn and I never exactly listened to them with her. Nice to ask and check im not the only 'bad' mummy out there though LMAO.
Id kinda made the decision before i posted I suppose as Id done it last night but she definately likes it shes not moved since being put to bed again. Ive never seen her so still as she usually moves from midnight to midnight without a seconds break shes like the duracell baby. Guess it goes to show they are called guidelines for a reason |

| I dont see a problem with it atall its obvious by her sleeping so well she prefers it. Callum had a cot quilt frm 6months cos he liked having his legs free x |

| Everybody knows their own children, and if you think that Awen will be fine, then I am absolutely sure she will.
I was looking today at junior duvets for Lily and am possibly going to get her one soon x |

| If shes happy I'd leave her to it. my flat is so warm Ameli just goes in her sleepsuit at the moment but she absolutely has to have a sheet (small one from the pram) next to her face so she can hold it and I nearly alwasy find it over her face. She used to do it in SCBU aswell, for some reason thats the way she likes sleeping. As long as the angel cares on I cant see the problem x |
