| My mum had a CT scan back in July. She was told the result would be 3 weeks. She then went on holiday and was back by the 3 weeks. She contacted her GP who said they did not have the results and to call back in 2 days time. this she did they still didnt have. Her GP then said call the hospital ask for """"""""""" and ask them to fax the results over. she phoned and asked but they refushed and said her GP must do this. she called him back and he said he'd do it call back tomorrow. she called back the next day he said he' still not got them. so my mum phoned the hospital again and they said that they didnt ahve the results back yet call back tomorrow. so she called back and was told that the consultant was on holiday for 2 weeks and they cant tell her the results.
fast forward to last week, she contacts her GP again whos says right everything down, bring it in and he'll sort it. she does this and takes the letter to him, he then says he cant help her.
He then calls her on Monday and says oh we have your results your colon is fine.
Then my mum receives a letter today that says there is a mass on her liver and she is to go in on the 14th Oct for some more tests and another scan.
and then after that she has to wait until the 8th Nov to see a consultant.
My mum has almost constant bleeding, she's gained a lot of weight is always unwell and is constantly in pain.
I've told her to complain she says she has (i dont think she's complained more then once)
surely she should not be made to wait this long? |

| I'm sorry you and your family have had to go through this, it really is out of order. You should not have had to wait that long to get these results. Is there any way you could contact the consultant's secretary and ask if it is normal to have to wait that long for an appointment? failing that she should go back to her GP maybe take someone with her and see if there is anything they can do to speed up the process. In regards to the shambles that was getting the results I would definately write a complaint to the gp surgery manager as that should never have happened. Hope your mum gets the treatment she needs soon and it all goes well x |

| mmmm that is pretty bad. i had a pelvic scan back in May (have night sweats and high growth hormone so are investigating) i have only this week received a letter from the hospital with an appt for the gynaecology unit( 30 Sept) to find out whats wrong . When i first went in April, they "lost" my details. Unfortunately this just shows the state that the NHS is in at the moment Hope your mam gets some answers soon x |

| If she gets in touvh with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service and make a complaint throgh them, they'll soon get things moving. My mum did this when she broke her wrist falling in Tesco car park and got shoddy treatment from the consultants, messing her around with times (i know a much more trivial thing) and once the complaint had gone in she was seeing the best consultant in the hospital within a week and within an hour of her appointment. Also, when one of my students with a learning disability was in hospital being ignored (as sadly often happens), one threat of talking to PALS got tests moving immediately. Its worth a go Am so sorry for what you are going through. hope your mum gets some help and answers soon. Mandy xx |

| I'm not sure Kelly, but what a nightmare, the only thing I would suggest is to contact PALS and see what they say x |

| Sheesh Kell! I'd be livid! Mostly at her GP for making her do his job!! Where is the professionalism? I cannot believe with having this on her mind for weeks..to have to do her own mini-investigation. I hope they get to the bottom of this..but her own doctor should have to answer for it! Hope they find nothing hun! xxx |

| Im not sure either hun. I would complain, but if it were something they thought could possiably be dangerous im sure they would have taken her in sooner.... But I have lost all faith in the NHS! friends nan has just been diganoised with cancer, and her apointments were all messed up, and told she had to wait for so long to start cemo, but luckly my friend is a nurse who works on a cancer ward so knows the ins and outs, said thats stupid... they tried then fobing her off the consultant needed to see her 1st and wasnt in till so many weeks, but luckly friend knew the process and said well no you can start cemo without the consultant.. soon shut them up and things got moving. Id keep on. And they've lost my mat notes from having lillie, last time I went it was only because I mentioned lillies weight (worried about the growth of this one) they said they had no notes in my hospital notes that iv had another child! I would keep on to them hun. hope alls ok, im sure it will be x x x |
