Some may know I've been having some problems and it was pinpointed as it being my gallbladder.

But the way everything has been done has shocked me, it's made things longer, more paper work and more money the NHS have to spend because of the process they have.

This is what has happened to me.

Went to see GP who gave me meds, spent me for bloods and a scan on my gallbladder.
2 weeks later scan date comes through for 2 weeks later.
At the scan the doctor who scanned me told me i had several stones and a thickening (what ever that is) and it would need to be removed. and that i need to contact me GP.
Contact my GP no results back.
3 weeks later results are in I'm asked to go see my GP.

So i see him this morning, for him to tell me i have 7 stones in my gallbladder and he needs to refer me back to the hospital to see a consultant to see what is to be done next.!!!!!!

what the hell are they playing at, i'm in no rush to have it removed but this is tax payers money and how do they see this as working.

I'm still on pain killers and strong anti acids until its out.

what have your experiences been?

I know its so silly!

Dan has had pain in is kidneys for a long time...he started at the GP and then gets sent back and forth to the specialists for tests - then called back to the hozzy for the consultant to tell him he needs more tests - why they cant send a letter to tell him that who know

I must have NO JOKE been to the hozzy that is 20 miles away...15 times...6 have been for tests the rest for being told he needs more tests or the results of tests, or being referred to another department...madness!

Makes you laugh doesn't it how they piss about...my OH has had a problem for over a year...he goes to the doctor who do tests, he's then referred to a consultant who do the exact same tests as the drs(what's the point), referred back to drs more of the same tests and it just goes on and on. What a waste of money.

I know it's ridiculous isn't it, and it will only get worse with practice led commissioning (ie the GPs buy services from other trusts and hospitals, instead of having a primary care trust to do that for them). It means the GP had to make all the referrals - refer for tests/scans, get them back; refer results to someone who can understand the results, get advice back; refer to somewhere else to do something about it, another waiting list. It's rubbish. I far preferred Tony Blaire's way which involved everyone talking to eachother, straightforward pathways, shorter waits and happier patients!

I'm ignoring this topic. I am just about ready to set my hospital on fire.
