| Would you spend £56 on a buzz lightyear toy and a woody figure for a 2.5yr old for xmas? We have already got Caitlin pram/doll/highchair/happy land house/dr's kit/dora toys/toaster/kettle/books etc. To be fair most were reduced and the stuff we bought adds up to less than £100.
Since I got a job I suppose I can afford to get a few extra bits for her. Stuart has decided he wants to get her these toy story toys as the extra's. I think they are WAY to dear for a 2.5yr old who could decide she hates Buzz 2 weeks after xmas (or even before xmas!). Stuart thinks the cheaper, smaller versions Caitlin would break and is convinced she will be elated with the one's he has picked out. I think id prefer to buy her more happyland sets, or clothes, or... well anything else really.
Would you spend that? I suppose it could be from the baby... it just seems a lot on 2 things that dont do much and are pretty similar. |

| It is expensive and I don't think Caitlin will truly appreciate them but they will last years and she may get to like them. But then again I wouldnt choose Buz or Woody Ellie I'd probably go for the girl woody (can't remember her name).
Marks bro bought Micky and Minnie for Ellie last year and they were really expensive. She only plays with Minnie though Micky is sat her window sill and Minnie gets sit in her pram and play on the slide etc. |

| ermmmmm well Izzy isn't into Buzz..but what does it do?
I'd spend it on something that 'does' stuff like a camera, or game...but is it just a figure thing>? |

| I havent saw it to see what one it is (he rang from work at tea time going on about it), but from what I can gather they are just largish figures that speak when you pull string or push buttons. Apparently £56 is a bargain as they reduced in his store atm (Tesco). I dunno, if she was 4 I may be more inclined to go along with it... |

| I was playing with these in tesco the other day and I said to Adam Im dreading when she can ask for stuff because the price was just ridiculous. Adam thought it was really cool though, maybe its a man thing? If she hasnt asked for it specifically I wouldnt get it. Not a chance in hell, its jut a figure that talks with some light. Oh actually I tell a lie oh just reminded me, he also moves his head |

| Ive got most of hannahs xmas in but I didnt get her a big thing and all her presents together look like a tiny bundle.(her expensive "big" present is a leapfrog explorer and some games) we were in toys r us the other day and they had this massive disney princess doll that was £50. she loved it and wouldnt stop looking at it but I dont really want to spend that much money on a doll.
I went home and its a limited edition one I cant even see it on the website or any other store so me and oh discussed it for a while and we have agreed to get it because Ive just recently had a wage rise at work and to be honest it will make me feel so much better about her tiny bundle as last year she had a kitchen and dolls house so the living room was absolutely full of toys and presents (I know its stupid to think like this btw as we have spent a lot of money so far but I cant help it)
BUT she absolutley adores the disney princesses and I think she would play with this doll a lot so I dont think your being a scrooge if you think she will appreciate something else. but if she loves them then Id talk about it some more? |

| oooooh you could get loads of fun stuff for that much money, i personally wouldn't blow it on one thing (learned our lesson early with the stupid jumperoo). we have probably spent about 70 on elijah but have quite a few things for him - i know it gets trickier as they get older though |

| See thats what im thinking mari, I could pick loads of stuff for £56. Well not loads but 2 Happyland sets maybe or some pretend play things like shopping/dress up stuff. Steph she loves Buzz and woody atm, and if she got them this week I know she would be in heaven! My worry is she was obsessed with ITNG and waybuloo last xams and now barely looks at those things, at her bday it was Peppa which I did her room up like. She still loves peppa but disney films seem to be taking over, at first it was lady and the tramp, then monsters inc for a month, then toy story for last month or 2 and this week keeps asking for aladdin to be put on... She doesnt hate the other films now, just seems to swing from one craze to the next I think il look online to see if I can see any cheaper ones's. I do see Stuarts point but if we get figures at £10 they more likely to get lost or broke than the bigger one's. Perhaps I could get a toy story themed toy (but not a figure) if you follow.... |

I agree with Lisa, that's a lot of money for a couple of movie figures. What's funny is, 10 years ago I went to florida and bought my mate a Buzz figure from Disneyland (or was it Universal Studios). It was enormous, made noises, flashing lights etc; cost me about $20 I think. He was 25 and got loadsa fun out of it. Would a kid get the same fun? Well, let's ask poor abandoned Iggle Piggle over there in the corner..... |

| I'd have a look around, toy story is big and you can get lots of things with characters on which might be more appropriate, I think it's a lot of money for some push buttons that don't do a lot more.
As I'm writing this russ is opening a parcel from amazon containing an old fashioned spinning top we paid £11 for, why we brought it because. HE wanted one as a kid.... Men |

| No way. I think i'm really tight cause I just think that is a ridiculous amount to spend. Thats like my total amount for Imogen for Christmas. If Caitlin is anything like Immi she'll play with it for a week then completely forget it so waste of money. |

| If he's desperate to get one maybe search eBay and see if you can get a really nice secondhand one that way if she is not bothered you haven't spent so much. That to me seems like quite a lot x |

| Well he went and bought them today They were even more expensive than we thought! Buzz was £40 and woody £35 BUT Stuart still reckons he got a bargain because the Buzz is the new glow one and he gets 10% and had a £4 off voucher... soooo it cost him £63.50!!! They will be broke by her bday Im over being mad. Its his money. The only prob is I know he will try and scrimp on other things in next few weeks like shopping to make up for it. I told him its unfair as if id randomly picked something at £60 on top of the budget we had agreed he would have moaned and talked me out of it. Well its done now. Caitlin is well & truly spoilt this xmas. |

I bought the disney doll and oh wasnt too happy with it either. think he was expecting it to fly at that price he wanted to take it back so I said to hannah "what do you want santa to bring you" and she replied ohhh that dolly from the toy shop!! so he had to let me have my own way. do you want to swap ohs? mines is a big scrooge too? he would save you a fortune! x |

| Aww bless hannah, at least she asked for it but. Caitlin could tell me on xmas eve she wants new socks ffs Sorted through her xmas stuff tonight and it is sinful the amount she has. The thing thats bugging me now is Stu wants to give half the toys she has atm to charity because she doesnt play with them enough. The prob is the child gets too much and we dont bother rotating toy boxes enough so she doesnt get the opportunity to play with everything. Over my dead body am I giving away toys that are 6-12mths old in new condition when we have another LO on the way! Well im trying to let it go (not very well as you can tell - hormone alert lol). My focus now is on clearing rooms for new baby and organising wardrobe space. Santa is finished as far as im concerned. Like you said I suppose it makes me feel a bit better about having a baby at xmas. Depending how close to xmas I have him/her I may give her either buzz or woody from baby.... buy her love haha! x |

back to the issue cant believe he went and bought them i'd be so bad thats ridiclous money but ah well if she loves them then it will be worth it if not maybe ebay them! |
