| Noah finally got his first immunisations done (at 11 weeks!), he was so brave but has definitely not been himself since. He usually never cries (no joke! he just grumbles if he's cross about something, bless him) but he's been having a few screams. Last night was the first time he's not stopped crying when you pick him up, so he's obviously feeling quite bad, same again today. He's sleeping a bit more, but is alert and quite smiley when he's awake, but his temperature has gone up to 37.9 It's usually about 37.2 or 3. I know it often goes higher after their jabs, but if it gets any higher what should I do? He's in a vest and jogging bottoms, and it's quite cool in our living room, should I do anything else to make him feel better? Poor little man |

| Hun, Alyssa was exactly the same after her first lot, she never usually cries at all! I would give him some calpol, that should do the trick and I hope he feels better soon xx

| I think it's quite common hun, i'd give him some calpol and just keep an eye on him, jabs affect us all differently he obviously just feels a bit pooh. the calpol should bring his tempd own and help him feel better x |

| Ooh - I have calpol, but it's for over 3 months only, and he's only 11 weeks.. Is there one for younger babies? Not that I can get it now as all the shops are shut |

| Ok, thanks for that I'll try sending my oh out to the 24 hr tesco and hope they have it. What if we can't get hold of any though? Do you reckon he'd cope with no medicine? I am kicking myself for not buying some beforehand, i'm a rubbish mummy |

| Thanks everyone, his temp went up to 38.4, but then he had a feed and went to sleep and it's gone down to 36.9, so hopefully that's the worst of it out of his system. I'll definitely keep an eye on him overnight though.
Just wondered as well, how do you give medicine when they're completely breastfed? Do they sell medicine dropper thingummies? |

| you can get plastic syringes from boots, don't use a dropper especially not a glass one (some idiot pharmacist gave us one once, wtf), you could try a spoon but its messy business with calpol. most pharmacys will have a plastic 5ml syringe if you tell them what you want it for. |

| Yeah we just got syringes from boots. We always seem to lose them though so I'd get a few of them |

| Dont mess about with paying extra for infant calpol its a swizz. If you check your generic paracetamol you will find its still 120mg in 5ml as thats the standard strength. Just give 2.5ml 6 hourly if you need to rather than 4 hourly |

| Noooo Ms Monkeychops, that's not what i wanted to hear as I've just gone and bought it!! Had to get a taxi to the 24hr tesco, where the police were breaking up a fight, and the pharmacist ignored me for a good 5 minutes! And he didn't have any syringes, said everything I needed was in the box but of course there's only a flipping spoon! Checked Noah's temp before I gave him any, and it had gone down to 36.8, which is a relief, so haven't given him any as it seems to have come down. Thanks for the replies and advice, feel better now I have a cupboard full of calpol! |

| Sorry chick but its true. We use generic paracetamol suspension at work cos its cheap and its 120mg in 5ml. Ive never been sure why everywhere else says 3m+ yet calpol claims 2m+ with no fuss. Im guessing they got some special permission so they can do it and claim twice as much lol. I never buy calpol or nurofen for the kids just own brand and I never buy anadin or nurofen or owt like that for me just the 16p stuff |
