| Why do boys smell??
Rich has a bath every day, he loves a bath and uses soap etc but his room stinks....
We've brought him some deodorant and some cleansing wipes but his room stinks.
I open windows every day to get fresh air in
I've also just informed him that at 12 yrs old I do not want to see his bits again, he finds it hilarious to flash me when he's having a bath and will happily walk around naked....
Lol I can see the next year is going to be fun.
Also should we sit him own and finally tell him the birds and bees before he starts his new school, did you know when you started secondary school |

| i definitely knew about the birds and bees before secondry school, probably mostly from school but my parents also left books around that were aimed at young kids to learn in their own space... as for boys, they just stink although elijah doesn't (yet!). i think its a hormone thing and just can't always be helped |

| I think boys/men smell too! Im not saying I wake up smelling of candy floss but my god if Stuart even has a nap in our room during the day it stinks when he gets up! I dont know what he breaths/sweats out in that hour but ick! Its like a stale fusty smell...
As for birds and bee's Im pretty sure I knew from around the age of 5. My mum answered all questions honestly and factually as they arose and I never had to be sat down and told, it was just a gradual thing starting off with bums/willys/vaginas and moving on to babys in tummys, daddys helping put it there, hugs, love, etc etc. Im sure by even 8/9 I knew that it wasnt just for making babies.
Id set him down now and explain as im sure 95% of kids at school will know about it and its better he hear it from you than look like a fool in sex ed class. We had them in 1st year and they really are in depth these days eg oral, foreplay, stds etc. It aint just human biology anymore, kind of like a social lesson too in preventing teen pg. |

| Oh and just an example of how graphic sex ed classes can be...
I remember a 'cool' lad asking the teacher what a gang bang was, obviously expecting to get told off/the class to laugh, but the teacher (who was a young down to earth man) explained about some people enjoy having sex with more than one person at a time but it wasnt particularly safe with regards stds, if you got pg you wouldnt know who the dad was and also not many people in main stream society took part in gang bangs but yes they did exist.
I think we were so shocked he'd been honest with us know one laughed just accepted it.
Im not sure all teachers would be so honest but! |

| Clare, with regard to flashing bit, I think it's normal, my 14 year old still does it and still gets fun from sitting on me to do a trump! Has rich hit the lynx stage yet? Our house stinks of lynx, he uses far too much of stuff and this is on hop of aftershave! Boys are just odd little creatures that grow into odd big creatures but we can't help loving them! definitely have a chat about the birds and bees to make sure he knows what it's all about |

| Yes he's asked for lynx, And tonight asked about his balls, which we explained, we answering his questions, letting him digest and checking he's understood right.
We going to move house and then sit him down and explain the rest.
Its like a drip effect little bit at a time |
