Some people are bloody unbelievably selfish. Grrrrr.... Icon_mad

A guy I work with has been off for a couple of weeks with 'fluid on his lung' and today I have found out he has TB Grrrrr.... Icon_eek
He told a colleague ages ago that his girlfriend had it and had caught it in Brazil when she was visiting family there so he knew he was at risk but only told this one person who kept it to himself.

There has been mass panic at work and a lot of people are really angry that he has been working with us whilst knowing he has it.

I panicked at first but having spoken to NHS direct and my local surgery I am fine because I had the BCG vaccine as a child and wasn't in close contact with him. I was concerned about whether I could be a carrier and exposed Wil to it but apparently you have to be in direct contact with someone with active TB to contract it so phew!

It is insane and like something from a Catherine Cookson novel or a period drama, who in the UK has TB in 2010! Grrrrr.... Icon_eek

Oh dear it was very silly of him not to mention it! I am really glad there is no risk etc and whilst i appreciate the seriousness of the issue i must admit i howled with laughter at the Catherine Cookson reference!!

TB is rampant in the northern communities amongst the First Nation and Inuit here in Canada. When my my sister was doing her RN degree in Yellowknife NWT..she said it was scary how many people have it. Not only that, how they spread it...the first nations are notorious for spitting everywhere..you would see spit/gobs inside elevators..hallways..everywhere. I thought TB was pretty much wiped out in countries like ours..but it's defo still around! Scary! xxx

MIL's boyfriend had it - he stayed away from Izzy and so did MIL as she was worried even though she was ok

It is selfish though - he should have said something!

Thats shocking, don't they think thats probaly why it's so rare? If everyone stops getting vaccinated then it will spread, it seems ridiculous to me!
