Imogen has broken our laptop. She gave it a wash - basically rubbed a soaking wet sponge over the keyboard I dried it straight away but the keyboard is all messed up now, when you press any of the top letters it types the number above it too. Do you think house insurance will cover it or is it not worth it? With excess and all that? Where is best to get it fixed? Local pc shop. I'm not taking it to pc world cause I know they charge about £200 and I might as well buy a new one for that

Oh bless her!!! With regards to the insurance, it all depends on what cover you have - for example you would need accidental damage cover and may even need all risks/personal belongings cover so check that. Also what is your excess? If you do decide to claim your insurers will want it in writing how much it will cost or if its beyond repair - some places charge to produce this. I would take it to a local pc repair place - they only wanted to charge us £35 to sort our netbooks out (we needed a new ribbon cable for the screens). xx

Try leaving it face down so any water can get out.. it MAY dry out and be ok.. My son wet his bed on his iPod and we left it a few days and it works perfectly.. No-one else in the house ever wants to play on it though ;o) can't imagine why

My ex once spilled a full glass of red wine into his laptop keyboard and it wasn't insured so I took all the keys off, dried it as much as I could, got the hairdryer on it (on a cool setting) and gave it a good blast for a while then left it in the airing cupboard for a few days - it was good as new when I got all the keys back on Worth a shot if your excess is gonna too high? xx

I spilt coffee on my laptop and got it repaired at a pc repairs place, if you find an independant one it should be pretty cheap and easy to do but I would try drying it out yourself first.
