| I know a couple of you have mentioned having a cleaner before so thought i'd ask. With me going back to work full time next month we're thinking about getting a cleaner.
If you have one, how many hours/times a week do they come in and what sort of things do they do? Also do you have a company come in and do it or just advertise for someone local
Thanks x |

| My grandad has one. Its just someone local, think he got the number from an ad up in post office. She comes for an hour a week I think does hoovering, dusting, mop floors and then sometimes he pays her to be there longer and take everything out the fridges/cupboard and so proper clean of those. |

| My MIL is a cleaner. As far as I know she gets work by word of mouth, replying to ads in local paper and occasionally advertising herself in local shop etc. She doesnt have much work atm so you may find it quite easy to get one.
She usually does 2-4 hrs at a time and comes once or twice a week. I think she does stuff like hoovering, mopping, cleaning bathroom, wiping down kitchen counters/drawer fronts/sink etc, washing skirting boards, windows, dusting, emptying bins etc... Then she also does ironing for some people, usually in their own home, but at a seperate day to the cleaning iykwim.
Some of the people she has cleaned for she has became quite friendly with and so would do one off extra's if they have friends coming to stay eg change spare room bed/leave out towels/prepare guest room etc, help prepare food.
Basically she does anything if she being paid lol. Id say local independant is good if you get someone relaible. They may be more accommodating to doing extra/less work as you need it and also at least you would get to know them as opposed to dif people turning up? Suppose it depends if you want to build a relationship with them or would find it too embarrassing and prefer the change of a company. |

| I used to have a cleaner when I was full time, she did 2-3 hours a week and did things like clean the floors, clean out the cupboards, bathroom, dusting, inside windows etc
I paid her £7.50 an hour |

| my mum had a cleaner and she was doing 4 hours a week (on one day) but was running out of things to do... my mum has a pretty huge house and the cleaner also did gardening!
But other things she would do were ironing, cleaning windows, hoovering/mopping, gardening, dishes etc.
She would do anything if you wanted her to but my mums funny about some things (like being in her bedroom) haha. |
